Loot Crate November 2013

I apologize that my Loot Crate review for November is happening in December, but they crates were a bit on the late side in November, and my fiance tore into it before I could get any decent photos! He was nice enough to take some photos for me, so if they're a bit dark/hazy/different from the normal crappy cell-phone photos I take, that's why. *wink

For anyone who doesn't know what Loot Crate is, you can look at my longer description/discovery story HERE, but for those of you who just want the basics, It's referred to as a subscription box that contains "epic geek and gamer loot." So basically, if you or someone you know is a super-geek or gamer at heart, they will absolutely love this box. Everything from Sci-Fi, to classic Nintendo, Loot Crate is packed with goodies that any geek would love. It costs $13.37 a month +shipping (it comes out to just under $20 a month) and this is our second month. Being a subscriber, you also have a chance at the "Mega Crate" which is a huge prize pack that Loot Crate gives to a random subscriber each month. This month, it was a PS4 AND XBox One system. Pretty amazing! Unfortunately, we weren't lucky enough to snag it! Over all Loot Crate is pretty cool and so far, my fiance has been loving it!

Loot Crate is the only subscription that my fiance gets (there aren't that many good boxes for dudes!) so we were really excited when his crate finally arrived on our doorstep. I don't know how shipping is normally, because October was super fast, and this month it felt like it arrived in a horse and buggy. I suppose we'll have a better idea after a few more months. But enough of my rambling, let's get to the good stuff!

Upon opening, we noticed there's quite a variety of items in here. Each month, Loot Crate has a sort of "theme" and where last month was "Survive" and dealt with zombie apocalypse-related items, this month the theme was "Celebrate" which was in regards to a few different anniversaries, events and new releases in the gamer/geek world. Let's dig in!

1. Doctor Who Tardis Balloon and Sticker

These seemed to be little bonuses, which I thought I'd get out of the way first. We LOVE Doctor Who in this house, so we were super excited to get these little extras. My fiance immediately put the sticker on the back of his tablet, and my cat gleefully chewed on the balloon before I had a chance to blow it up. Very fun addition to celebrate Doctor Who!
2. First Person Shooter Shot Glass

So I don't know what this had to do with the theme in particular, but we could always use more shot glasses, and my fiance was quite happy with this, so yay!

4. BFAST Breakfast Shake

Yet again, not sure what this has to do with the theme, but whatevs. This is a "Breakfast Shake" which according my fiance, tasted like the milk at the end of a bowl of fruity cereal. I don't know why companies are always trying to hand out these weird drinks and snacks to gamers...but here we are. Apparently this wasn't terrible-tasting, but nothing my fiance would ever buy or drink again.

5. Bicycle Playing Cards: Guardians Edition

I feel like I keep repeating myself, but yet again, I don't understand how these pertain to the "celebrate" theme. I think they were grasping at straws for a theme this month. But anyway, these are kind of a "dark angels" themed playing cards, which are super cool. We play cards and have game nights occasionally, so even though we've got lots of playing cards, these are cool to add to the collection.

6. Batman Mighty Wallet

I am not a superhero geek like my fiance, but I am pretty sure that this year is the 75th anniversary of Batman, so I think this applies to the theme, finally! This is a paper-type (tyvec) wallet. The material is what some shipping envelopes are made of. It's very sturdy and doesn't rip or tear. I don't think he'll be using this wallet daily or anything, but it's a neat idea and knowing my fiance, he will definitely find a use for it. It's a cool thing to add as I think that lots of subscribers will have a desire/use for it!

7. Beatz Buddiez Sound Blastin' Speaker: Butters

I am a casual watcher of South Park, so I can't tell you if they're celebrating any kind of important milestone or anniversary this month or this year, but I thought this was a really cool addition to the box, regardless. My fiance also enjoyed it. It sounds great for such a small speaker, and he plans on using on his desk at work.

Here's the entire box overall:

So in having to guess the value of the balloon and the sticker, and having a wide range of prices for the Beatz Buddiez speaker ($15-$20) I have found the value of this box to be about $45-$50. Which is more than double what the box costs.

This box wasn't as exciting as October, but it was still fun to open and more than worth the $13.37 a month! I am really excited to see what December brings. They have already announced the theme is "Console Wars" and that it will include a t-shirt!
