got2b POWDER'ful Review!

For those of you with thin, limp hair, you know how hard it is to get the volume you're looking for. I know that at least for me, I end up loading my hair up with hairspray and spending 20 minutes teasing it in just the right way just to get a LITTLE volume. Before I know it, my hair is flat as a pancake again and I'm back to fluffing it with my fingers and hoping it lasts through the day.

That's where got2b POWDER'ful comes in. I was given this product for free to test out by the wonderful website, bzzagent.com and it was my very first campaign with them, so I definitely wanted to do a good job and be as accurate as possible!

When I opened the box, I saw a small, compact little tube of powder. My friends who were with me immediately agreed that it was perfect for travel or to throw in your purse. But the more important thing was: how well did it work?

Once my hair was dry, I followed the instructions. I shook a bit of the powder into my hands. (I suggest focusing more on shaking it onto your fingers as it's easier to distribute to your roots.) Then I gently rubbed my hands together until the product "disappeared" but as the package says, I could still feel it on my hands. It actually felt a bit...wet! I'm not sure how it goes from a powder to an almost cool and wet-feeling consistency, but I went with it!

I deposited the product right onto the roots of my hair. Once I felt no more product on my hands, I shook out a little more and continued until I felt that my roots were all covered. After that I ran my fingers gently through my hair and tousled it a bit. The entire process took about 20 seconds. I took a deep breath and glanced into the mirror.

I truly couldn't believe what I saw. For the first time EVER, I had full, luxurious volume, and it looked completely NATURAL! There was no hairspray, no teasing, no 'crunchy' look to my hair. I could run my hands through my hair and it stayed full and voluminous.

I went through a long day of shopping, came home and cooked dinner, and by the end of the night, almost 10 hours later, my hair was STILL as voluminous as it was when I put the product in. It did need a little fluff here and there with my hands over the course of the day, but that's about it!

I have to give got2b POWDER'ful a 10/10 because it is DEFINITELY a game-changer in my hair routine. I can toss out my hair spray and the endless time I waste holding my hair up and spraying the roots. No more teasing combs getting caught in my hair. This product truly delivers volume that LASTS, without that gunk and product residue that weighs you down. I cannot say enough good things about this product. I only regret that I gave away my other bottles to friends, because I'll be needing more ASAP!

VitaCost Be Pretty and Be Well boxes!

I recently received 2 of the "Be" Boxes from Vitacost.com and I needed to tell you all about them!

Now I know what you're all thinking: please...not ANOTHER subscription box! But I'm here to tell you, this one is different, and it doesn't HAVE to be a subscription. You can buy these boxes once, twice a month, honestly it's up to you!

I was sent the Be Well box as well as the Be Pretty box. The Be Well box includes wellness items that range from food to vitamins to natural house cleaners! The Be Pretty box is closer to a typical "beauty" box however it focuses a lot on skin care and things of that nature, as it is all natural products that are sold on the vitacost website.

There are also different boxes tailored to your interests. Those include a "Be Fit" box which includes diet and fitness products, "Be Strong" box which has muscle builders, protein powders etc. Perfect gift idea for the guy in your life who is gym-obsessed! Finally there is a "Be All" box, which include something from every category.

These boxes cost $13.99 apiece and shipping is included! Vitacost also promises that you will receive $70 of more worth of products in the boxes, and after adding up the cost of the items I received, I can say that is correct. You're definitely getting at least triple the amount that you paid, so the price cannot be beat!

What did I get in the boxes? Well I opened them and my mother and fiance immediately snagged a couple of items, so this picture doesn't even include everything I received. This photo include the items I received in BOTH boxes.

Truthfully, there's just too much to do a review on, But I can say from left to right this is what I received:

Included in my Be Pretty Box was 2 liquid soaps, a moisturizer, an eye gelee, a lip balm, 2 shea butter soaps, 2 eye cream samples and 2 face cream samples, as well as a moisture stick. I recognize some of the brands, and the others are new to me, but I can say from experience I was extremely pleased when I opened the box and saw the huge amount of products!

Included in the Be Well box was a full size jar of Omega Fish oil capsules, a full size box of Strawberry flavored fish oil capsules for teens and kids, a bag of peeled apple clusters snacks, a Vitamin D drink, and a probiotic sample. When I opened this box, I was a bit more disappointed. You are able to look at past months boxes on their website, and in the past months, there was quite a bit more product in the Be Well Boxes. I was also a bit disappointed that there was TWO fish oil products in the box, and they were essentially the main items that were not sample sized. The GOOD thing is, the value of the box FAR exceeds the $13.99 that it retails for. The Fish oils alone are almost $50 for the pair on the vitacost website. So all in all, it was definitely a valuable box.

I give the Vitacost boxes an 8/10 rating. I have only received these once, so I cannot say for sure if they are good every month. The Be Pretty box was a 10/10 for sure. The Be Well box was more of a 6/10 as it was a bit disappointing in the variety of items that were included. However my tune might change next month if I am lucky enough to receive these again!

This is a great alternative to typical beauty boxes as most of the boxes can be gifted to either men or women. There are multiple kinds of boxes to choose from and they are all health and wellness products. You can order them once, or set up a monthly subscription, which is a GREAT alternative to being forced into a subscription you're not even sure you're going to like. Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Eye Cream And Lash Serum Duo Review!

Back again with another review! Switching gears a bit this time, rather than talking about cosmetics or a subscription box, I'm going to be talking about a skincare product that was kindly sent to me to test and review for free by VocalPoint. If you'd like to learn more about VocalPoint and how you can get involved, stay tuned!

One thing that I have still not found a "cure" for in the cosmetics world, is my short, stubby, and unfortunately sparse lashes. To add insult to injury, my lashes are naturally blonde, making them almost non-existent without mascara, and sometimes even false lashes. I have tried every serum and lash lengthener on the market and no product has stood up to it's claims. Here's where the Olay Micro-Sculpting Eye Cream/Lash Serum Duo comes in!

First off, the lash serum comes in a duo form with an eye cream, seen here:

The idea is to cleanse your face as usual, and Apply the Micro-Sculpting eye cream on your lids and around your eye area, and then apply the lash serum to lashes. This is to be done AM and PM and can be done before applying mascara if desired. The eye cream is supposed to lighten the appearance of fine lines around the eyes as well as tighten up the skin around that area for a more awake and firm appearance. The serum is of course, supposed to thicken and lengthen your lashes. The claims state that you will be able to see results within 5 days. So I put it to the test.

Today is now day 7, so let's talk about the pros and the cons of each side of the duo!

Eye Cream- I am 28 years old, so while I don't have many noticeable fine lines or wrinkles around my eyes, I do have loose skin around my eyes as my lids are "hooded" and I do have the beginnings of crows feet, so I decided I would try out the eye cream. Even though many people my age and younger believe they don't need anti-aging products, I feel like it's never too early for prevention-products! After applying the cream, I did notice that my eyes were a bit irritated. They did not turn red and no rash was present, but they did feel a little itchy with an every so slight burning sensation, but nothing so extreme that I felt the need to remove it. So far I have not really seen a difference in the elasticity or firmness of the skin in my eye area, although I feel that it's possible I will have to use the entirety of the product to really see a change. We'll see!

Lash Serum- Let me get right to it: THIS STUFF WORKS! I would swear that after the very first night I applied it, I awoke to longer, fuller lashes. I don't know if that was just my wishful thinking working overtime, but I will tell you that after 7 days of using this serum, my lashes are longer and fuller than ever! Unfortunately, my sad little cell phone camera doesn't do justice to how amazing my lashes look right now (as they are blonde and don't show up well in pictures) but I WISH Olay sold this lash serum on it's own. I would buy it over and over again. My ONLY complaint about this serum is that the brush itself is made up of VERY hard, rough plastic bristles and it get hurt your eyelid skin and feel quite scratchy if you get too close to the base of your lashes, so be careful applying!

Overall: I would give this product an 8/10 due to the fact that the serum works miracles on my lashes, but the cream still has yet to wow me, and there are a few small packaging errors (IE: the very rough lash brush) but overall I would absolutely recommend this product to friends, especially if they were looking for a lash serum that TRULY does what it says.

If you're looking at the store, keep a look out for the box that looks like this:

Ipsy / Glam Bag April 2013!

My Ipsy bag came right on time this month and I couldn't be more excited! With last month's bag being slightly disappointing (I haven't touched a single thing from the bag since I got it other than the makeup remover wipes) I was really looking forward to this month as the sneak peeks on Ipsy's facebook got me quite excited. So let's take a look and I'll tell you my first impressions!

First off, you can see you get THREE full-sized products! How awesome is that?? Secondly, you can see there is somewhat of a theme this month; What Ipsy calls: Pretty in Pink. So lets talk a bit about each product.

THE BAG
This bag is a HUGE step up from last month's bag. It seems to be very well made. It is a white canvas bag with a pink vinyl outlining the top. Inside the lining is pink and white stripes with the Ipsy logo. They're bags in regards to quality are usually hit or miss, but this one is excellent and very chic.

BeaBombshell Blush in "Sweet Cheeks"
FINALLY A BLUSH! Ipsy listened to their subscribers and finally included a blush, and a full size one, no less! This particular blush is one of two that could have been received, and it is the darker of the two. On their website and sneak peeks, it looked almost magenta but I was very happy to see it is more of a rosy pink color, while the one I didn't receive is a baby pink. This one will work much better with my skin tone and seems to be very pigmented.

Sexy Hair "Soy Renewal"
Very happy that I received this product, as the other one was a powder volumizer which I already have something similar. This product is the "nourishing styling treatment with multiple benefits!"  It is supposed to speed up blow drying time, nourish and protect hair, and enhance shine. It contains Argan Oil as well which is always a plus to make hair healthier and to tame frizzies! It smells absolutely lovely and I'm looking forward to trying it out!

Station Nail Lacquer in "Love at First Bite"
Nothing better than a full sized nail polish! Except...maybe there is. There were two options in shades this month, and I received the one I thought I wanted. One was a light baby pink color, and this one SEEMED to be a deeper peachy pink. I think that is what it's supposed to look like, although when applied to the nail it actually looks more like a french manicure color. That ugly, fake peach tone that only looks good on a french. It's also very sheer and takes many coats to put on. I suppose it would work nicely for certain people, but it's definitely not my cup of tea.

Two Cosmetics Duo Eye Shadow in "Heartache"
Oh...where do I begin? First of all PINK SHADOW? I understand you can blend these light colors nicely with other neutrals but it would have been nice for this to have a light pink and a brown or something so that it was a more wearable duo without having to add other shadows into the mix. But on top of all this, I don't think I'm going to be trying this shadow. Two Cosmetics has a bad reputation after they re-packaged a product that was purchased from a makeup supplier. Basically if you hadn't heard all about it already: Two Cosmetics buys a lot of their products from a wholesaler and then has them stamp the "Two Cosmetics" label on it. They purchased something called "Color wheels" from a wholesaler that were supposed to be for face and body but NOT for around the eyes and on the eyelids. Two Cosmetics sold the color wheels as EYE SHADOWS, which is the ONE place they were not intended to be put. This went on for a long time and even after people found out and complained, they only put a tiny disclaimer on the page and continued to sell them as shadows. I do not trust the company or their products as they don't even create their own cosmetics, so I will probably be giving this away to someone who is interested in it regardless of the back story.

All in all, this was a fantastic Ipsy bag and I'm thrilled with the products overall. It's a huge step forward from their little stumble last month and makes me very excited to see what May will bring!

What's New?

So I've been getting lots of new cosmetics lately since I've started my wild foray into crazy couponing! But before my coupon craze, I was drawn to a few products that I just HAD to have, and paid full price for! They have since become a staple in my daily beauty routine! Here's a look at what I've been using every day!

COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
While I'm usually not a big fan of Covergirl products, I decided to try this one out after hearing a few good things whispered about on the web. I ran out to CVS and tried to pick the closest shade I could, and went right home to try it out!

First off, I was lucky to have picked a shade almost perfect for my skin which is 810 Classic Ivory. I have very pale skin, so I usually just start at the lightest shade and tweak it from there. It matches almost perfectly! It has a bit of a liquidy-texture, but the pump makes it quite easy to apply onto your skin or sponge. I use my fingertips to put this on, and then blend it out with a brush. You HAVE to work quickly, mind you, as this product dries very quickly!

Now the claim on this particular foundation is that it's a 3 in 1: Foundation, Concealer and Primer. I can tell you that I NEVER go without my primer, but for testing purposes, I decided to go without on this product. the results? It works! It really does stay on all day, and for me, that's about 10 hours. As for the "concealing" part of it, I'd say this is a medium-full coverage foundation, in the sense that just apply it doesn't conceal acne or dark circles, but it once you apply it, if you go back with a bit more of the foundation and dot-apply it where you need it and use a concealer brush to blend, it really will work well as a concealer!

My only concern with this foundation is that I absolutely would not recommend it for dry skin. I have combination skin that tends to get more dry in the winter and unless I keep my face perfectly moisturized, this stuff will grab onto every single fleck of dryness and magnify it x100. But I think it's the perfect foundation for summer as it won't sweat off and will help with excess oil. Not to mention it has SPF 20, always a benefit!

Coastal Scents 22 pc Brush Set

THIS PRODUCT!! If I could scream from the mountain tops about this brush set, I would do it! For about 1/3 of the price of the high end brand brush sets, this Coastal Scents set works just as well, if not better than my more expensive brushes!

Not only does it come in a very nice faux-leather brush roll, but the larger brushes also have protectors on them to keep from getting frayed or bent when the roll is closed. There's also a zipper pocket in the roll to hold sponges, tissues etc.

The larger brushes have a good "weight" to them and the bristles are very compact and dense. There are so many shadow brushes that you won't know what to do with them all! There are quite a few angled brushes, concealer brushes, smudge brushes...and even a big, glorious fan brush. If you're on a tight budget, but want quality, easy cleaning, powerhouse brushes for the cost of what one or two high-end brushes would cost, THIS is your set.

  Schwarzkopf Bonacure Hair Oil Potion

While I did not spend full price on these, I did win them in a contest on influenster.com and I was eager to try them after such a good experience with the Schwarzkopf Shampoo and Conditioner. This set was 2 full sized hair oils. One for normal hair and one for thick hair. I passed the thick hair bottle off to my roommate, as he has very thick, frizzy hair and is always looking for something to protect it during heat styling as well as keeping it smooth. The other bottle, I kept for myself to test out.

While I won't say that is is the best hair oil in the World when it comes to restoring your hair, it's an excellent finishing product. I do put some in my hair while it's wet, mostly at the ends as I'm still trying to repair my hair from a bad bleaching incident, and this stuff works excellent on split/dead/frizzy ends! I also like to put a little bit of this oil into my palms and smooth it over my hair once I am finished styling. It keeps fly-aways at bay, and gives a very nice scent and shine to the hair. I think this is going to be a great product for summer when my hair ets more dry and frizzy. I would definitely suggest grabbing a bottle of this if you're looking for something to help tame your hair without weighing it down. It's very lightweight and doesn't make your hair look greasy!
