Rimmel Glam Eyes HD 5 Color Eye Shadow Review!

I recently received a box full of Rimmel cosmetics from Influenster. I'm sure most of you are familiar with the brand, but I haven't tried much from them overall other than the matte mousse foundation and the mascara that I reviewed a few months ago. I thought it would be fun to do some quick mini-reviews on the items I received and let you know what I think!

This review is on the Rimmel Glam Eyes HD 5 Color Eye Shadow in the shade, "Brick Lane."

This is a neutral set of shadows, all bronze, creams and brown shades. All of them have a shimmer to them except the darkest shade, which is more of a satin finish with a very minimal amount of micro glitter flecked in it. Rimmel has a guide set up on the back that numbers each shade and shows the user how they could apply all 5 of these shades on their eye. (I have numbered them in the photos)

Rimmel's claims are as follows:

New hybrid powder-cream technology glides on smoothly and is easy to blend.
Apply dry for an alluring, subtle look or wet for high impact colour.
Smudge-proof, crease-proof, fade-proof.

I have swatched these shadows and used them and I definitely don't feel much of a different in their consistency to other drugstore shadows. They don't feel "powder-cream" to me, but they are soft. They are nicely pigmented for a drugstore shadow, but definitely didn't blow me out of the water with their performance.

Here's the swatches! The left is applied with a brush with no primer. The right is applied with a brush with primer. (I used Urban Decay Primer Potion)

You can see by this photo alone that these do not perform amazingly well when they are used alone, but they are very vibrant and pigmented when just a bit of primer is used, like in the right photo. Rimmel also suggests that one can use these wet as well, which would definitely get a more foiled and pigmented color payoff.

Overall this is a cute little set of shadows that is great for a makeup beginner, or someone who has just started using eye shadows. The neutral shades would work for any skin tone, and you're able to do a very minimal look with just a few of these shades, or do a very deep, brown smokey eye by using all 5. I think that this could even have a place in even a seasoned makeup lovers arsenal, as it's neutral and travel friendly. It's creates a quick and easy look that can be tweaked for day or night.

I don't think that this is the best quality shadow I've seen at the drugstore, but it's definitely a solid B+. Definitely one of the better small palettes at the drugstore for it's lower prices and variety of shades alone!
