Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer Review

Rimmel has been popping up on my "to review" list a lot lately. It seems like every month they have some new and exciting product to try out! These lip lacquers are not brand new, but they are a recent addition to their line of products. I have seen them in the stores quite a few times but just kept forgetting to pick them up! Luckily I received a couple in the mail today to review and I'm super excited to share them with you.

Here's what Rimmel has to say about these Lip Lacquers!

It's the End of Color as you know it!
The intense rich color of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine.
It's neither a lipstick nor a gloss... It's BIGGER than both!

There are 13 shades in this collection ranging from pretty pinks and reds to deep purples and nudes. These lacquers apply like a gloss with the intense color payoff of a lipstick. Sounds a bit too good to be true, especially for a drugstore brand!
First off, let's take a look at the applicator. This is a bit different from your everyday doe-foot applicator:

You can see in this photo that the applicator has a little well or indentation in the tip that holds more product, which is something I haven't seen before trying these lacquers. It's a great little addition because it holds a perfect amount of product to completely cover my lips!

The two shades I received are #101 Celestial, which is a muted rosy pink, and #400 Big Bang, which is a stunning true red.

The swatches on the back of my hand alone really impressed me! The formula is not quite like a gloss or a lipstick, just as Rimmel suggests. It's almost like what you'd imagine a melted lipstick would feel like consistency-wise. They are not at sticky in the slightest, but feel light and thin. Even so, they still pack a serious punch color-wise. Here's a look at the shades on my lips.

(#101 Celestial)

 (#400 Big Bang)

That is only one quick coat on my lips and already the lacquers are completely opaque. They feel moisturizing on the lips with no gooey or sticky feeling, and they seem to have a really high-impact shine.

Wearability was better than I expected. I had the red shade on my lips for a few hours and it seemed to last pretty well without a touch up. I would definitely take the tube along with you if you're going out and you want to refresh that gorgeous vinyl shine, but one application should easily last you a few hours if you aren't eating/drinking a lot.

Overall, I am super impressed with the color variety, consistency, opacity, and finish of these lip lacquers. They are a truly unique cosmetic and they really deliver intense color and shine. I am really excited to pick up more of these soon, and I definitely recommend you pick one or two up the next time you're out!
