bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow Quad "The Happy Place" Review

bareMinerals is one of those brands that I see every time I go into a Sephora or Ulta, but have never experimented with extensively. I've ended up with a handful of their lip glosses, and deluxe samples of the marvelous moxie lipsticks, but I never took the plunge and purchased a full-size product from their line until now!

I was tempted to pick up this particular quad by the wonderful EmilyNoel83 on youtube, after she did an eye tutorial using this palette. (You can view that HERE.) I was lucky enough to receive a very generous gift card from one of my penpals (thanks Mary!) and decided to take the plunge and pick this up! It's $30 price tag can seem like a lot when you get 3 times the shadows in a $52 Naked palette, however I think these quads are very easy to use, and can work for a makeup beginner, or a pro!
As I've gotten older, I've definitely gravitated toward more neutral eye looks, however this palette creates fun and unique smokey eye that has a pop of color, but still remains neutral.

From the bareMinerals site:
bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow provides exceptionally vivid, long-wearing color in an ultra smooth, silky texture for effortless application and seamless blendability with four shades that create multiple looks. Powered by our proprietary SeaNutritive Mineral Complex along with powerful antioxidants, cold-pressed borage oil, caffeine and cucumber-ingredients known to deliver anti-aging benefits including reduced look of puffiness and antioxidant protection for a softer, smoother, revitalized eye area. It looks like a powder but feels like a cream and delivers a beautifully smooth application of vivid, long-wearing color.
Looks like a powder, feels like a cream and delivers skin-nourishing benefits:
  • Exceptionally vivid, pure, provocative color
  • Long-wearing for up to 12 hours
  • Resists creasing, fading and smudging
  • Reduces the look of fine lines, wrinkles and puffiness
  • Helps to boost moisture levels to smooth and revitalize delicate eye area
Formulated without parabens, binders, fillers or harsh chemicals.

I love the small size of these quads! They are incredibly easy to travel with, but still have a nice weight to them that makes them feel high-quality.

The palette contains a large mirror and a double-ended sponge tip applicator.

The bareMinerals website describes the colors in this quad as follows:
Peace- Muted Apricot (I think it's more of a pale matte/satin cream/pink)
Imagine- Rose Gold (more of a bronzy peach with pink rosey undertones)
Exhale- Smokey Taupe (a nice deep matte/satin taupe that reads grey on the eyes)
Euphora- Eggplant (also can look like dark brown on the eyes, but definitely deep shimmery purple)

I think these shades, while all technically neutral, are really beautiful and unique as a group. I think you could can accomplish a lovely, simplistic look with these shades, as well as a dramatic, smokey one.
The quality of the shadow definitely rivals my other favorites: Urban Decay and Lorac.
These shadows are buttery-soft and super pigmented, without being too harsh.

I was astounded at how easy it was to swatch these shadows, and how they almost felt like a cream shadow! They have very little powdery/flaking issues, although the matte/satin shades (peace and exhale) do have a very small amount of fallout when picking up with a brush. All 4 of these shades blend like a dream and I have had no issue with them fading. They keep their intensity all day when paired with a primer.

I am so impressed with the bareMinerals shadow formula, and this quad overall. "The Happy Place" is such a lovely collection of shades, and I fully intend on doing some swatches/experimentation with some of the other quads the next time I'm at Sephora!
