Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette VS. Naked 3 (Review, Dupes and Swatches!)

When Coastal Scents first released the original Revealed palette, I did a review comparing it to the Naked and Naked 2 palettes. I have always been more than happy with the quality of Coastal Scents products, and the Revealed palette was no exception. The appearance, staying power and quality of the Revealed shadows held up to the Naked palettes easily. You can imagine how excited I was to discover that Coastal Scents released the Revealed 2 Palette!

While the original Revealed palette had the neutral brown, taupe and bronze shades down pat, The Revealed 2 takes a page from the Naked 3 and produces some lovely pink/rose-toned shadows as well as a few neutrals to mix and match with.

Let's compare the both palettes!
Both palettes are the same size and shape, and both contain 20 shadows of varying finishes. There is no mirror in either palette. I personally find that the palettes are a bit TOO similar, as I found myself grabbing the wrong one quite a few times when photographing!

So how does the Revealed 2 Stack up against the Naked 3? At first glance, it's obvious that Revealed 2 has quite a few more shadows, and includes more matte shades as well as deeper toned shades. For me, it was hard to tell at first glance whether or not there would be dupes for the Naked 3 shades.

I have numbered each shade in the Revealed 2 palette, as the individual shades do not have names.
Here's my comparisons and dupes!

From left to Right: (Naked Shade / Revealed 2 Shade #)

1. Strange / 2
2. Dust / 4
3. Burnout / 5
4. Limit / 6
5. Buzz / 8
6. Trick/ 9
7. Nooner / 11
8. Liar / 12
9. Factory / 14
10. Mugshot / 15
11. Darkside / 16
12. Blackheart / 19

As you can see from my comparisons, it is quite easy to replicate the entire Naked 3 palette with the shades in the Revealed 2. Not every shade has an exact match, but that is mostly due to the fact that the Revealed 2 shades have more of a brown undertone while the Naked 3 shades all have a rosy pink undertone.
The good news, is that if your wallet can't handle the hefty $54 price tag for the Naked 3, you can definitely replicate looks using the Coastal Scents Revealed 2, and then some!

The photo above is of the shades in the Revealed 2 that do not have a corresponding shade in the Naked 3 palette. There are some great highlighting shades, as well as some unique and standard matte shades to make the available matte eye looks a lot more vast.

I have been using Coastal Scents products for many years, and I have always been very happy with their performance. I love that the Revealed palettes exist, as they give consumers a less expensive option to the Naked palettes. A single Naked palette will cost $54 for 12 shadows, while the Revealed palettes both have 20 shadows for the cost of $19.95. Even better, Coastal Scents frequently has sales, and because of that, I was able to get the Revealed 2 for only $9.95!

Urban Decay's formula does beat out Coastal Scents. I find that the Naked palette shades are a little easier to work with, as they are a bit more firm and less powdery, therefore they have less fall out and stick to a primer with ease. The Revealed palette shadows are beautifully pigmented and can be worked with relatively easily, although they are very soft shadows and require lighter hand when applying. Even so, they last on my lids for as long as the shades in my Naked palettes!

I am very happy with my Revealed 2 palette. I love that there are 20 shades rather than the 12 in my Naked 3, so I am getting a lot more versatility and travel-friendliness! The more shadows you can pack into a slim palette like this one, the better! The only complaint I have travel-wise is that there is no mirror in either Revealed palette. This isn't a bother to everyone, but its nice to have when you're on the go!

Revealed and Revealed 2 absolutely have my seal of approval. You can get both at their retail price for less than the price of one Naked palette, and you will have a huge library of neutral shadows to work with! You can pick up the Revealed 2 HERE.

  1. I just started reading your blog today while I was searching for Nature Box reviews. I love your blog, very thorough, and all interesting content for me. I had no idea that all of these subscription services were even out there!

    1. Aww thank you so much Sarah! That's so sweet of you to say! :) There are SO many subscription services...more than I could ever review, but that's kind of what make them so fun!

  2. I was just browsing the internet to find swatches and honest reviews about the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette. I must say I was really enjoying hearing your feedback along with the side by side swatches between the Revealed 2 palette as well as the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. 3. Great review, thanks for posting it on the Birchblogger FB page for me! I'm totally sold on getting this now, thank you for such a great comparison between this and Naked 3.

  4. Thank you for a well thought out, informative review on this and the CS Revealed palettes. I appreciate the swatches and time you spent finding the similar/dupe shades. I also appreciate your comments about the pros and cons of this vs the UD palettes. Certainly for such a price difference I don't have the same expectations of the product. A gentleman commented on your Revealed review that some may find the CS palettes easier to use. I think I will be In that camp. UD is just too heavy and pigmented for me. I need a little "forgiveness" and I think these shades may give me that. Take care, and I will be following you on FB and email!

    1. Wow thank you so much for all the compliments!! <3 :) So happy that my review helped you, and I really hope you enjoy the Coastal Scents palette(s). Both Revealed palettes have been a staple in my collection, and I even reach for them more often than my Naked palettes since they have so many extra shadows! Truly appreciate your readership and kind words!

  5. I want to have both palettes! Great review!

  6. Would you like the original or the second one? Also are there more dupes on the original than the second? Pls help as im trying to make a choice between two palettes! (1 or 2? 2 or1?) ahhh

    1. Hi Chelle! I own both the first and second Revealed palettes and I really like them both equally since they both offer different shades. the original Revealed palette has more dupes to the Naked Palettes. It's essentially a combination of Naked and Naked 2- If you're looking for more Naked dupes in one palette, the first Revealed palette is the choice for you. If you prefer the Naked 3 palette and like rosey tones more so than brown-toned neutrals, then the Revealed 2 would be a better choice. Either one is fantastic, but if I absolutely had to choose one, it would probably be Revealed 1 :)

  7. Thank you for your review!! I have been wanting to get the naked palette forever and I just found out about the revealed palettes. They look beautiful!!
