Dr. Young Anti Pore Eraser Balm (Plus Giveaway!)

One thing you should know about me before I do this review:  I have gigantic pores on my nose and cheeks. No matter how much I wash my face, use pore-tightening products, pray to the skincare Gods etc, my pores are just as giant as ever. Here is a terrifying closeup so you can get a slight idea of what I'm talking about. I apologize in advance.

It's very difficult to get a good photo of my pores, but I will tell you they're about 10 times darker and more apparent in person. At least I think so. I have used a lot of products that don't work, but the things that work the best for me are always products that I apply prior to makeup application. They more-or-less will "hide" my pores rather than attempting to make them disappear.

Dr. Young products have been popping up in a few Memeboxes, and this one is called the Anti-Pore Pore Eraser Balm. It is essentially a primer, similar to Benefit's 'The Porefessional." You basically apply this stuff as a primer and it essentially fills you pores and blurs them out, creating a smooth surface in which to apply your foundation.

What Memebox Says
Enriched with witch hazel extracts, Swiss alpine herb extracts, marine collagen, and vitamin 5, the pore eraser balm is a primer perfect for featuring the soft, silky porcelain skin. This pore primer will fill in all lines and enlarged pores and control excess sebum for a long-lasting look.

Ingredients
This product comes in a small jar, which for me is a bit of a bummer. I feel a product like this works better in a squeeze tube, so I don't have to dip my dirty fingers into it, but I can also have better control over how much I'm using. I notice that a LOT of Korean products come in jars, so I invested in a beauty spatula (think kitchen spatula, only a teeny version) so I can get product out and minimize bacteria growth.

The Pore Eraser Balm looks like it has a skin-tone color to it, but it actually blends out to look practically translucent, which is why I didn't do a swatch. It has a VERY similar consistency and feel to products like Benefit's Porefessional and L'Oreal Miracle Blur. It's a soft-feeling paste-like cream that when applied, almost has a powder-like finish and feel on the skin.

I applied this only to the places that were pretty pore-tastic: my nose and upper cheeks, as well as my chin. I applied by taking a small amount and almost gently buffed it into my skin and then pat it a bit so it would almost "fill" the pores. I waited a minute or two, and then applied my foundation.

The Results?
Although I didn't have time to do a full face of makeup (hello under-eye bags!) I wanted to give a better idea of how my pores looked after using the Eraser Balm and my foundation. I really noticed a significant difference in how my skin looks with and without the balm. When I apply a regular primer, my foundation can sometimes seem to seep into my pores and leave these dark oily dots on my nose. Using the Pore Eraser balm, I noticed that while my pores were still mildly noticeable, my foundation was staying put, making for a much less noticeable bunch of pores!

 Overall Thoughts
I am really enjoying this pore eraser balm. I think that it works better than the Porefessional, which I had been using previously, and it also seems to last on my skin throughout the day without breaking down. It's only downfall is that it's in a jar, but I can definitely live with that. I am very impressed with the overall appearance of my skin when I use this balm, and I will definitely continue to use it in my daily skincare/makeup routine!

I like the pore eraser balm, it seems like a great base for foundation and the clearing mist seems great for oily body skin :) Did it have any kind of smell to it?
