Amarte Aqua Mist and Aqua Cream Review

Summer can be a hard time of year on my skin. I used to be one of those people who used the same skincare products year-round. I never understood why there needed to be different products for different seasons until I turned 18 and my normal, easy-going skin suddenly became combination skin from Hell!
Now, not only do I change my skincare routine depending on the seasons, but I change it depending on the day and how my skin is acting. I think that it's so important to pay attention to your skin and use products that are going to benefit it, not hinder it!

My combination skin tends to get super oily and super dry at the same time during the summer. My T-Zone is an oily mess, and my cheeks are super flaky. I have a fantastic cooler weather moisturizer from Amarte, and that is their Wonder Cream. I use it religiously when it's not Summer, and it might be the best moisturizer I've ever used. No joke! So when I saw that Amarte had a new Aqua line for Summer, I made it my mission to try some of the products!

About Amarte
Amarte is a premiere luxury skincare line based on eastern skin care philosophy and western dermatology, designed to cleanse, hydrate, rejuvenate and protect to bring out the clarity brilliance and beauty of every person's skin. With deference to Korean heritage and philosophy, Amarte is refind for American preferences and employs western elements with eastern structures for a true hybridization and a more thorough skin care experience. Since its Korean debut in 2001, Amarte has been the leading skincare line in Asia and has newly launched in the US, aiming to provide consumers with the most effective, high quality skincare formulations in perfect east meets west synergy. All products in the Amarte line are dermatologist tested, approved and recommended by board certified dermatologist Dr. Craig Kraffert, President of Amarte.

The entire Aqua line consists of a toner, serum, lotion and cream. Since I have oodles of serums from Memebox, I decided to try the Toner and the cream. The difference between the lotion and the cream, is that the lotion is a lighter formula, and the cream contains retinol.

From Amarte:
Reveal the True Clarity, beauty and brilliance of you skin with the Amarte Aqua Line. Focused on Natural, concentrated brightening, this comprehensive collection softens and hydrates skin while evening tone and visibly brightens even the most sensitive complexions. This scientific skin care system elegantly blends antioxidants including gingko and chamomile with incredibly different results.
Aqua Mist Toner

An instant complexion boost, this hydrating spray features a brightening formula that uses botanical active extracts including arbutin to clarify and soften, all while toning and hydrating even the most sensitive skin.
My skin tends to get ruddy and dull in the summer, so a line of light-feeling, brightening products is absolutely perfect for me. This toner, as stated above, brightens, tones and hydrates the skin. It's a spray on toner, which makes for easy application. It's a very fine mist, so you don't have to worry about spraying on too much. This is used like a regular toner, after cleansing. However this product can also be used throughout the day to refresh. The great thing about Korean toners is that they are there to restore moisture to the skin, while American toners are astringents that remove moisture and are used for extra cleansing. I find this Amarte toner to be top notch. I have a lot of Korean products, toners included, but the Aqua toner makes my skin feel hydrated and fresh without feeling oily. I also love the delicious grapefruit-like scent!

Aqua Cream
This brightening antioxidant facial moisturizer is rich in arbutin and 1% retinol that ramps up smoothness and softness while delivering a bright glow.
I found myself comparing the Aqua Cream to my Wonder Cream, and while they have the same lovely grapefruit scent and contain retinol, they do have a few differences. The Aqua Cream, while heavier than the lotion of the same line, still has a lightweight texture to it. It seemingly melts down into a watery gel-like consistency before completely absorbing into the skin. I don't feel a "moisturizer feeling" on my skin once this cream is applied. It also has this seemingly unintended cooling effect. The lightweight gel-like formula, mixed with the natural cooling properties makes this an excellent moisturizer for the Summer months. The only thing I can suggest with Amarte products in general is to use a LOT less than you would with other brands. A little goes a very long way.

I am thoroughly impressed with what I have tried from the Amarte Aqua Line. Both products have already found their way into my daily routine, and I have already seen a vast improvement in the texture and brightness of my skin. This is yet another hit for Amarte!
