Memebox My Cute Wishlist #2 Review

My mailbox is usually flooded with bright pink boxes, however this past week it seemed barren! While I know it hasn't been that long since my last Meme-review, it certainly feels like forever. Luckily, my wonderful DHL guy rang my doorbell today at 9am, and I stumbled to the door with my hair in tangles and my spot treatment from the night before dotted all over my face. DHL guy was kind, and averted his eyes to avoid looking at the horror show that was me-just-waking-up, and he handed me THREE Memeboxes. I certainly will be making up for lost time over the next couple of days!

The first My Cute Wishlist box was so positively fantastic, (probably my all-time favorite Memebox) that I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the second edition. I also bought the 3rd edition of this box because I'm addicted and really need to go to a meeting at Memeholics Anonymous. (Does that exist yet? Someone needs to start one!)

My Cute Wishlist #2 was described as:
It's Back! We spritzed, powdered, and puckered up our way through thousands of precious darlings to bring you a box that bubbles over with cuteness!
The second edition of our My Cute Wishlist Box is loaded with darling delights that have swoon-worthy signature cheeky Korean names and gosh-darn-cute packaging. From miniature beautifying trinkets to precious pouch portables, this box full of darling beauty finds will make you bubble over with giddiness.
(product info card tells you more information and how to use each product!)

If you're new to Memebox, they are a website that sells Korean beauty products, but their most popular items are of course, the Memeboxes. These boxes are full of deluxe samples and full size Korean beauty products and are delivered to you all the way from Korea. Memebox has been kind enough to create a FAQs page that you can view HERE if you want more info on the boxes, as there are many to choose from!
This particular box is one of their superboxes, which are curated around a specific theme and contain all full size products.
My Cute Wishlist #2 cost $23 plus $6.99 shipping.
 1. RoseMine: Perfumed Hand Cream in "Hesperides"
(Full Size Product: $12)
This is your basic hand cream, enriched with shea butter, rose water, argan oil and mango seed butter. It's super moisturizing and has a light floral scent. I'm usually not very fond of florals, but this is pretty nice. The packaging is pretty cute, although not super exciting, as I've seen this brand and it's telltale packaging pop up in a few Memeboxes before. Even so, it fits the theme well enough, so I'm happy with it!

2. Sally's Box: Friendly Berry Berry Lip Patch
(Full Size Product: $3)
If you are new to K-Beauty and haven't seen a lip patch before, they are basically a sheet mask for your lips. The gel makes it so it hugs the contours of your mouth and stays put for 10 to 20 minutes. This lip patch is infused with berry extracts and vitamin C. I have personally never felt any difference after using these patches, but they seem to be popular and many different companies make them. Sally's Box is a newer company to Memebox, and while their packaging is pretty cute (especially their sheet masks) I feel like this might be the product in their line with the least-cute packaging. I mean it's kind of cute...I guess?
I just wish Memebox wouldn't include $3 masks as a "full size product" in the Superboxes. If there were a few of them, it would be fine, but when there's only 6 items total and this is one of them, it feels a little light.

3. Evas: Vitamin Cleansing Dessert in "Berry Mix"
(Full Size Product: $18)
This product is called a "cleansing dessert," and it's basically a cream cleanser in a jar rather than a tube. It does have a slightly thicker consistency than an average cleanser, but is still used to remove makeup and wash away impurities on the skin. I received the scent "Berry Mix" however there was also the option of "Lemon" or "Red Wine." It smells quite nice, as I really like using berry scented products on my face for some reason. I love my Missha Strawberry Latte Cleanser though, so this has to be really great to take it's place in my regular skincare lineup.
While this is actually a pretty nice product, and has really cute outer packaging, there's nothing too exciting or adorable going on here. The more annoying part is that I already have this exact cleanser in a different scent from the Cacao Box

4. SaintPeau: Collagen Pudding Sleeping Pack
(Full Size Product: $36)
This is a sleeping pack that is infused with 52% natural collagen. It's supposed to help fill in fine lines and wrinkles as well as delivering moisture and nourishment to the skin while you sleep. It's also suggested that this be washed off in the morning. It has an almost jello-like consistency and a light citrusy scent.
I mean, I love sleeping packs, but I don't find this one to be cute at all. Just because there is a pig on it (and not a cute one at that) doesn't mean it belongs in this box. Am I wrong? As a matter of fact, I feel like this might have some of the most boring packaging on any product I've received from Memebox. Black and white, simple labels...nothing too cute about it in my opinion. While I'm not happy with the lack of cuteness, I am happy with the product, so I guess it's not a total loss.

5. The YEON: Style Y Fruity Swirl Lip Balm in"Strawberry Twist"
 (Full Size Product: $8)
This is described as a conditioning balm that "melts across your lips." It contains jojoba oil to help hydrate and moisturize. There were 3 different colors that could have been in the boxes. I received the strawberry shade, however there's also an orange and a lime. I cannot imagine how those shades are going to look on anyone's lips, but the strawberry one is actually nicely pigmented and gives off a pretty, sheer wash of pink. It feels more like a gloss-in-a-pot than a lip balm, but it isn't sticky at all. I don't detect a scent even though I would have expected it to smell like strawberries.
Upon first glance, this product really looks like the little lip balms my mom would let me buy when  was litter and we were at the dollar store, or the cheap section at the drugstore. While the little swirl pattern in the balm is fun, it's not "cute" in any way. This is something that would have worked better in a different box, in my opinion.

6. It's Skin: Babyface Petit Blusher in "Baby Pink"
(Full Size Product: $7)
Finally, the only legitimate cute thing in the entire box! The It's Skin petit blushers have been pretty popular with Memebox fans due to how ridiculously adorbs they are, as well as the pretty shade selection. It's hard to tell for sure which shade I got, as the shade name is in Korean. In some light it looks lavender and in others it looks pink. If I had to take an educated guess though, I'd say it's the pink. The sad thing about this blush is that it looks white and shimmery on my already pale skin, so it's definitely not going to work as an actual blush for me, although it'll probably do OK as a highlighter.

Overall Thoughts
This box cost $30 shipped, and contained  $84 worth of product. Memebox always has a value that is much higher than what you paid, however this is a pretty low value considering it's a Superbox, and that most of my past boxes have had a higher value.
Aside from that, the overall feeling I get from the My Cute Wishlist #2 box is slight disappointment. While there are some semi-cute products in here, the comparison of this box to the original Cute Wishlist is pretty dismal. This one completely pales in comparison. Everything in this box feels like an afterthought. As if the people over at Memebox suddenly thought, "Oh crap, My Cute Wishlist #2 ships in a week and we forgot all about it! Quick! Everyone look around the warehouse and find anything that might be considered sort-of-cute and stick it in a box!"
The products are all nice enough, and I'll use everything, but it's not always about that when it comes to Memeboxes. You really want the box to match the theme because that is all you have to go on when you're purchasing these boxes. While this isn't my least-favorite Memebox to date, it definitely missed the mark for me.

Final Verdict?

What did you think of this box? Cute or not cute? Maybe I'm just blinded by the first box and can't see the cuteness of this one? Who knows...but I'm hoping My Cute Wishlist #3 leans more on the side of painfully adorable than painfully boring.

  1. Not cute. And not even entirely useful and/or fun either. :*( This was kind of a dud of a box. I *almost* got it because the last one was super cute but... I think I dodged a bullet with this one.

    1. You definitely dodged a bullet. It's not like I won't use this stuff, but it's all so...meh. I can't even pretend to be that excited about it. Even the blush that I thought was going to be awesome is so pale that I can't use it, really, and my skin is so pale that I can't even find a foundation at the drugstore to match me most of the time LOL. Had such high hopes for this and it was a big let down. :(

  2. I am really happy not to buy it but sad that I missed the first box. The Eyeliners are so cute. Maybe the third one is great again.

    1. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the 3rd one is better! Let's hope!

  3. It's not that cute really is it? I quite like the sleeping pack as it has a nice scent to it, but over all it feels like they didn't try to hard with this one. I am sensing a theme here that awesome first boxes are leading to disappointing second boxes, like with Hair & Body. Still, I haven't cancelled my order for Cute 3 because so far it's one good box and one less good. Wouldn't order a 4th though.

    1. I agree that the sleeping pack is a great product. I love sleeping packs and this one smells great and feels really nice on the skin. I just wish it was cute! I hate paying for a box thinking I'm going to get one thing and then get something completely different. It doesn't happen to me very often with memebox, but this was was such a bummer! I'm holding onto my cute 3 because like you said, it could go either way. I'm hoping it's as good as Cute #1!

    2. Also it annoyed me that the box was totally tiny and half filled with tissue paper. How can they call that a Superbox?

  4. Man, in comparison to the previous My Cute Wishlist this doesn't add up... I hope the third edition of this box is better :S

    1. It really doesn't. It looks like they put the wrong products in the box, doesn't it? I am also hoping #3 is better. If it isn't, I think I'll be done with cute boxes!
