Memebox Global #14 Review and Unboxing!

Memebox Global #14 was the box that got away. When Memebox first launched, I solely purchased the global editions because I felt (and still feel to an extent) that they had the best variety and value. However, over the past few months Memebox has been releasing some killer boxes. Boxes I totally couldn't resist. Unfortunately because of that, I somehow overlooked and completely missed out on buying Global #14.
When I saw the unboxings, I was filled with box-envy. I couldn't believe what a fantastic box it was, and how stupid I was that I missed out on it. I vowed to buy the next global that went up for sale, and just hoped that it could live up to the awesomeness that was Global #14.
Then something kind of amazing happened.
Memebox randomly sent me a box to review. It showed up on my doorstep this morning, and I had no idea which one it could possibly be. Of course, when I opened it up I saw that it was the one, the only, GLOBAL #14!
While Global #15 has already been sent out and reviewed widely, I am still SO excited about this review. How did Memebox know that I wanted this box so badly? I may never know. Memefairy Godmothers, thank you for granting me my wish of getting this box!
(product info card tells you more information and how to use each product)
If you're new to Memebox, they are a website that sells Korean beauty products, but their most popular items are of course, the Memeboxes. These boxes are full of deluxe samples and full size Korean beauty products and are delivered to you all the way from Korea. Memebox has been kind enough to create a FAQs page that you can view HERE if you want more info on the boxes, as there are many to choose from!
This particular box is one of their global boxes, which are the original Memeboxes that include a variety of different products from around the K-Beauty world. Global #14 has 15 full size items and cost $23 plus $6.99 shipping.
Let's get right into the awesomeness of Global #14!

1. Kocostar: 4 Package Set: Hair Pack, Face Spot Mirror Patches, Fingernail Pack and Foot Peeling Pack
(Full Size Product: $20)
This is a pack of 4 different mask-type products from Kocostar.
Ggongji Hair Pack- This hair mask is similar to the one that we received in the Cute Wishlist box. It's basically a plastic bag filled with hair essence. You put your hair into a ponytail and then stick your hair into the bag and fasten it with an elastic band. Wait 30 minutes or so, then remove and style as usual. These can be used on dry hair, which makes them convenient when you're on the go. I've used these Kocostar hair masks before, and while I think they're OK, I've never noticed a huge difference. My hair usually feels softer for a short time, so I suppose they'd be good to use before going to an event or party.
Face Spot Mirror Patch- I have also used these products before, but not from this brand. These are basically little circular sticker patches that you place on top of blemishes and they suck out all the gross stuff as well as help with redness. As crazy as it sounds, these things really do work wonders. I usually go through my skincare routine and then slap these onto any obvious blemishes before I got to sleep. Then I remove them when I wake up, and truly can notice a difference. These ones are especially cute because there is a little mirror inside the package for easy or on-the-go application.
Five Finger Nail Pack- I've received these kinds of "nail masks" in Memeboxes before. These are little pouches that slide onto the tips of your fingers and cover your nails. They're supposed to add moisture as well as protect your nails when left on for 30 minutes or so. I've never noticed a major difference with these, but they're fun to toss on while I'm watching a rerun of Gilmore Girls. Can't hurt, right?
Foot Peeling Pack- Another product I've received many times in past Memeboxes from different companies. The classic foot peeling pack. These are little plastic socks filled with essence that are placed over your feet for about an hour or two, then removed. In a few days, the dead skin on the feet will start to peel off pretty intensely, revealing soft, silky skin! They work well, although it's messy and very gross when the skin starts to peel off.. It's a good time of year to use these though, because you can conceal the creepy alligator peeling process of your feet with a pair of socks. Do not use these if you're still wearing sandals: The peeling is not very pleasant-looking!
2. Sally's Box: 4Set Sheet Masks
(Full Size Product: $14)
This 4 pack of sheet masks from Sally's Box is super cute. Just look at the packaging on these! Adorbs. The smaller mask is a "Love Recipe Apple Mask" that is enriched with Apple extracts, which help moisturize, soothe and balance out skin's texture. The other 3 masks are all hydrogel masks, which mean they are not made of a cotton or a paper like a typical sheet mask, but of a gel-like substance that keeps the mask from drying out too quickly, as well as helping the skin absorb the ingredients better. These "Delight" hydrogel masks all have their own specialties (panthenol, collagen and ceramide) but they do all contain the Sally's Box "garden complex", which is more than 10 herbal ingredients that work together to hydrate and firm skin. Super excited to add these into my ever-rotating sheet mask routine!

3. Shower Mate: Perfume de Whip Body Wash in "Pure White Blossom" and "Red Fantasy"
(Full Size Product: $4 ea)
These are whip-cream-like body washes that gently cleanse as well as infuse the skin with fragrance. The scents I received are Red Fantasy (rose and jasmine) and Pure White Blossom (refreshingly crisp...whatever that means, Memebox!) which are both very floral. The idea behind these body washes is that they will leave behind a subtle fragrance on the skin so that there won't be a need for a separate spray-on scent. Unfortunately, I'm not really into floral scents in the slightest, and I really love my perfume collection, so these just aren't the products for me. I also feel very weird about using heavily-perfumed products as a body wash anywhere on my skin, so these are kind of a miss for me. I am willing to give these a try, regardless, because the scent may be subtle enough that it won't irritate my skin.

 4. Re:cipe By Nature: Golden Time Vita Capsule Essence
(Full Size Product: $42)
Recipe by Nature is one of my favorite brands that I learned of through Memebox, so I was really thrilled to see this Vita Capsule essence! This essence is filled with vitamin capsules that deliver nourishment and nutrition to the skin, all the while balancing the oil/moisture levels, brightening and evening out skin tones and smoothing skin's texture. While I'm usually really happy with Recipe's packaging, something about this vita capsule screams "90's Dollar Store." The cheap red bow, the strings of hot glue in random places on the bottle, the two-toned oil...something about the packaging just rubs me the wrong way. Regardless, the product inside seems like it's going to be right up my alley. It has a very subtle, fresh/fruity scent, and feels like a classic essence: like a watery ampoule. It absorbs very quickly as well, which is a bonus for me. This product is to be used after toner application, although I tend to use an exfoliator around that time, so I will most likely use this product after my sheet masks. Excited to add yet another step to my skincare routine!

5. Sua Young: Mineral Essence In Liquid Foundation
(Deluxe Sample: 5g $4 / Full Size Product: 30g $34)
This is a mineral foundation that is a mix between a BB and a CC cream. It's not as heavy as a BB cream, but has a coverage that a CC cream can't provide. It's free of mineral oils, parabens, alcohol, artificial fragrance, phenoxyethanol and talc. It's all organic as well. It has a light pigmentation that adheres to the skin without clumping, but also effectively covers up minor skin imperfections.
This is the first non-full-size product I've received in a Memebox in quite some time, but I am totally fine with it! I love getting smaller sized products because it gives me the ability to try lots of other products as well. Nothing worse than having 8 full size BB creams and knowing deep down you'll never get through them all before they expire!

6. Beauty People: Miss 100 Super Waterproof Gel Liner Auto Pencil in "Glimmer Bronze"
(Full Size Product: $38)
The fact that the retail price of this liner is $38 is just astounding to me. Even though this is a great liner, I don't understand why it would be priced at that much. I did find these for sale on random websites in the $10 range, but I did also see them for sale for $30+. So strange. Either way, this liner glides on like the dreamiest, gel liner you've ever used. It stays put and is incredibly, ridiculously pigmented. Just like the Beauty People liners that were in the Cute Wishlist box, I'm super impressed. Yet again, I received a bronze shade which is a recurring thing with Memebox.  As boring as it is, it's wearable, and that's what matters most to me.

7. VOV Goodbye Black Smudge Waterproof Mascara
(Full Size Product: $19)
This company is a subject of great debate on the Memebox forums around the internet. Memebox claims that this is, and I quote, "a widely acknowledged and greatly loved waterproof and long-lasting formula." However, I have read time and time again that VOV is one of the cheapest, most looked-down-on kind of brands you can buy outside the US. Many think of it as dollar-store quality products. Even so, Memebox claims this mascara is a $19 value. I tried it. It's basic. I wouldn't say it's the worst mascara on the planet, but it didn't do a whole lot in the volumizing/lengthening department. It does stay on for a while, doesn't smudge and is waterproof from what I tested, but honestly it doesn't perform wildly better than any drugstore mascara I've ever tried. It'll probably get used up eventually, but not my favorite thing in the box, for sure.

8. a;t fox: Fantasy Holic Lip & Cheek Designer Pencil in "Lovely Coral"
(Full Size Product: $7)
As you know, I usually open and swatch every single product I get, unless it's an extra or a double. This particular product I already own, so I am going to keep this one wrapped up so it can be part of a future giveaway. This is a 2-in-1 product that can be used to add matte color to the cheeks and lips. It's a long lasting product, and I've used and enjoyed it quite a few times. Even though the name is "lovely coral" it does come off as a more nude/pink shade in my opinion. I love the a;t fox line of products, especially the packaging! Did you know that a;t fox actually has cafes in Korea that you can visit? While you're there, you can drink tea and find beauty products that match the tea you're drinking! They also have adorable little fox-shaped desserts among other awesomely cute things! It's on my list of places to go if I ever find myself in Korea!

Overall Thoughts
Memebox Global #14 was about $30 shipped and has a total value of $149, although that's with some products being questionably priced. Even so, the value is certainly over $100 and that is still fantastic! There's such a huge variety of products here. Everything from Makeup to skincare to body care. I am especially thrilled with all the different masks for the entire body. Some of the products included aren't my favorite, but I do think that this is an ideal box for the Memebox beginner as there are many different brands featured. I think this was one of the best valued boxes for the price, and I am so thrilled that I got to get this box even after it sold out! Thanks Memebox! I guess now I can only hope that the future Globals will live up to the bar that Global #14 has set for them!

  1. I love masks and this box made me swoon in happiness! I had skipped getting another mask box so this just made everything better.
I totally agree with you that the Global boxes continue to deliver the best variety and value. Plus, there's always a little something that makes you go "What?!" and that's also part of the fun!

  2. I loved this box! I purchased it when it was released and I'm glad you got one to review because it was one of the best ones I've ever gotten! This is how I felt when Memebox sent me the My Cute Wishlist box to review :)

  3. Funny about the commentary on VOV - it definitely is a cheap brand. I don't think it's awful or anything, but in mind VOV is sort of like Wet n Wild maybe? Some hits, some misses. Also I think you hit the nail on the head with the "90s Dollar Store" vibe of the Vitamin essence, lol. The cap + bow remind me of cheap colognes and knock-off perfumes you would find at dollar stores and whatnot. I'm sure the product inside is fine, but it's not the most sophisticated bottle ever. :P
