Sally's Box Gold Snail Hydrogel Mask and Friendly Argan Hair Mask Review

Sally's Box is a Korean company that has been popping up in many Memeboxes lately. They carry a wide variety of adorably packaged sheet masks, as well as hair, hand, foot, and eye care patches and masks. All of their products are incredibly well priced, and while difficult to find elsewhere, are for sale in the Memebox Shop.

Memebox was kind enough to send me a selection of products from the Sally's Box line to review, and I couldn't be more excited!

 Gold Snail Hydrogel Mask
This intensive hydro gel mask contains snail mucin, renowned for its ability to support natural skin regeneration.and repair. The super-concentrated ingredient maximizes the appearance of skin elasticity and firmness, facilitates the restoration of damaged tissue, replenishes lost moisture, and supports natural skin cell renewal and structural restoration. The hydro gel texture adheres closely to the skin to instantly cool down skin's surface temperature and delivers high concentrations of skin-saving ingredients deep down into the skin.

Apply mask to cleansed and toned skin. Leave on for 15 minutes and remove. Do not rinse. Proceed with normal skin care routine.

My Thoughts
This is a hydrogel mask, which are similar to a typical sheet mask only they are made of a gel or a mix of gel and fabric as opposed to being made of paper or cotton. Hydrogel masks are almost always more expensive, and stay moist longer. Because of this, the skin is able to absorb more of the essence of the mask and much of the time, you will achieve better results. This isn't to say there are no high-performing paper sheet masks, but hydrogels are very luxurious-feeling!
This hydrogel mask comes in 2 pieces: a upper and a lower piece. Normally I have issues with these types of sheet masks because they tend to slide of my face while I'm wearing them, however this mask stayed put the entire time I wore it. The shape of the mask was the perfect size for my face, and I didn't have to make any adjustments with scissors like usual. The directions suggest placing the lower half of the mask on first, followed by the upper half. This is done after you've completed your cleansing and toning routine.
The mask feels like a hydrogel, but there does seem like there is some sort of fabric at the core of the mask holding everything together.

After waiting 30 minutes and removing the mask, I massaged the leftover essence into my skin and checked for any immediate results. Once the essence had completely absorbed, I noticed that my skin looked smoother, more even-toned and brighter. While snail mucin is best used over time for prolonged results, I was happy to see that in one use, I noticed a difference in the appearance of my skin. While it is supposed to be moisturizing, I didn't feel like it was overly so. This mask could definitely be used for any skin type.

My Thoughts
This is a 2-Step Hair Treatment mask that includes a cream as well as an essence-filled cap. To start, you simply wash and towel dry hair, and apply the step 1 hair cream from root to tip. I usually don't use these types of treatments often.  I find having to wash my hair and then get out of the shower to apply a treatment, and then 10-15 minutes later having to rinse it out is a lot of effort, and let's face it-I'm super lazy. However, if you have a large sink that you can quickly wash your hair in before using these kinds of hair masks, that should work well.
After you've applied the cream to clean, wet hair, you place the included hair cap over your hair and massage for 15 seconds. The inside of the hair cap is also coated with an essence to help nourish your hair. Once you've massaged the products into your hair, simply leave the cap on for about 10-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

I did suck it up and use this product for review purposes, but usually any product that seems like it will be too much effort or take too much time normally ends up in my give away pile. However, since I did a quick wash of my hair in my kitchen sink rather than jumping in and out of the shower, it actually didn't seem too bad. The fragrance of the products is nice, not too overpowering or unpleasant. Your typical "hair product" scent. The cap fit nicely over my head although it was a bit difficult getting all of my long hair inside.
After rinsing well and letting my hair air dry, I have to say- I really did notice a difference! I usually don't see much when I use hair products for the first time, however I could see that my hair was less dead-looking and frizzy. There was definitely more of a glossy shine to my hair as well. I'm very pleased with this product. So much so, that I will probably dig in to the other hair cap treatments I have around!

To note- After using this product, I was re-reading the packaging just in case there was anything I missed before posting my review, and I noticed that in the warning section, there is something that I found to be pretty important:
In order to reduce the potential discoloration or hair loss, rinse thoroughly with water after application.
As someone who has incredibly thin, prone to falling out, dyed hair, this alarmed me greatly. Why would you create a hair product that causes hair discoloration and hair loss if not rinsed thoroughly? I don't understand that in the slightest. I know this is a warning for anyone who doesn't rinse the product out of their hair in time or well enough, but it makes me feel like if I ever used this product again I would be in the shower for 3 hours rinsing and rinsing repeatedly for fear of hair loss and discoloration. I can't tell you how many times I put on a hair mask and get caught up doing something (usually writing a blog post!) and realize I should have rinsed it out an hour ago. While this mask did make my hair feel really nice, I don't think I'd be comfortable with using this again.

Overall Thoughts
I'm really happy I was able to try some of the new Sally's Box products being introduced into the Memeshop. I can't say that I will be buying the Hair Mask again, but I will absolutely keep a look out for the Gold Snail Hydrogel Masks. I love snail products, and these masks exceeded my expectations in regards quality and results. I also recently received some Sally's Box masks in my Global #14 box, so I'm interested to see how they stack up to the Gold Snail Masks!

If you're interested in Sally's Box products, or have been scoping them on on the Memebox site because they're all such great prices, I can definitely say they're worth a try! Check out the line of products that Memebox is offering in their shop HERE, and keep a lookout for more Sally's Box products to be arriving in the Memeshop soon!

  1. Thanks for posting this about the hair mask. I was totally gonna use it this weekend but now I think I won't as I have color treated hair! Plus hair loss??? Scary!

    1. You're welcome! As I said in the post, I'm sure that there's probably some kind of chemical in the mask that has a negative effect on hair when left for a prolonged period of time, but since this "warning" of hair loss and discoloration isn't well described, I just don't feel comfortable using it. I just find it weird that it would exist at all if that is a risk. I don't know anyone who's willing to risk discoloring their hair or risking it falling out just to make it a little smoother. The effect it had on my hair wasn't enough to continue to risk it. I honestly wish I never used it because I keep waking up and checking to see if my hair is falling out or faded lol :(

  2. This is really a nice and informative, containing all information and also has a great impact on the new technology. Thanks for sharing it
