Memebox My Dessert Box Review and Unboxing

Memebox releases many tempting boxes, but none as delicious-sounding as the "My Dessert Box." This particular box didn't receive a whole lot of buzz, and I admittedly forgot it even existed until I checked my list of purchased boxes. I saw no spoilers, didn't see many people talking about it, and started to worry a bit that it might be an afterthought kind of a box. Having said that, the theme promised potential of deliciously-scented items and adorable packaging, so I crossed my fingers and hoped that it wouldn't be a total bust!

(product info card tells you more information and how to use each product)

If you're new to Memebox, they are a website that sells Korean beauty products, but their most popular items are of course, the Memeboxes. These boxes are full of deluxe samples and full size Korean beauty products and are delivered to you all the way from Korea. Memebox has been kind enough to create a FAQs page that you can view HERE if you want more info on the boxes, as there are many to choose from!

This particular box is one of their special edition boxes, which are curated around a specific theme.
"My Dessert Box" cost $23 plus $6.99 shipping. Most of the time, unless it's a "Superbox", Memeboxes usually contain a mix between full size and deluxe size samples. In the case of  "My Dessert Box", all 6 items are full size.

From Memebox:
Nothing says cute like beauty trinkets that resemble your favorite sweet desserts! If you're a sucker for over-the-top embellished beauty essentials that look like your favorite sweet treat, you're in the right place! Yea, you're all grown-up and lead a sophisticated life and all, but sometimes, you've got to show some love to your inner nine-year old girl. What better way to show that love than to shower yourself with yummy beauty treats that look, feel or smell like your favorite sweet desserts! Plus, these cute-as-a-muffin beauty trinkets are dual-purpose- they're useful and they're also really, really great props for instagram. We promise.

Delskin: Skin Juice90 Real Ampoule
(Full Size Product: $30)
This ampoule is loaded with all kinds of fruit and vegetable extracts: strawberry, lime, raspberry, lemon, mango, apricot, orange, grapefruit, kiwi, papaya, broccoli, cucumber and carrot, to name a few! It's used to brighten and revitalize tired skin, enhance it's firmness and elasticity, and defend skin from environmental aggressors. It has fresh-squeezed orange juice scent, and feels like a watery essence. There's no sticky residue, and it absorbs quickly. I really like this product already, but I can't help but notice that this ampoule is HUGE. The thought of ever using this entire bottle is daunting, seriously. You only need 2-3 drops to cover the entire face. In that case if I use it morning and night, I should be done with this bottle by 2017! I'm not entirely sure how a huge bottle of fruit and veggie juice works in a dessert box, but I suppose some desserts are made with fruit, if I'm trying to stretch it!

It's Skin: Cookie and Hand Cream in "Mint"
(Full Size Product: $9)
Yay! A super-cute dessert product that is perfect for this box! This is a hand cream that looks like melted mint chocolate chip ice cream! It even has "cookie bits" in the lotion that are actually just moisturizing beads that dissolve when rubbed into the skin, but it really make the hand cream look more like a yummy dessert! The scent is a to-die-for mint chocolate. I don't usually like hand or body creams that come in jars, but this one is too cute and too deliciously scented to pass up!

Carver Korea: Le Petit Prince Creme
(Full Size Product: $46)
Upon first glance, I was a bit confused as to why this product was in this box, but I have decided it's because it's described as a "pudding-textured" gel. Mkay Memebox. We'll go with that. This gel cream is apparently made in collaboration with a Korean Beauty blogger named, "Petit Prince." This product combines toner, emulsion, ampoule, cream and pack all in one, and works to create a "moisture net" over the skin to keep the skin moist, supple and elastic.
Since this is a many-products-in-one kind of thing, I'm not exactly sure when to apply this product in a multi-step skincare routine. It has a gel-like texture, so even though it has a multi-use gimmick, I might try it as a sleeping pack or possibly an emulsion/cream of some sort. I don't think I would skip my usual toner or ampoule and just use this product on it's own, although I may try this during my morning routine to see if it works. I'm super lazy in the AM, and I like to keep my getting ready time to a minimum!

Dearberry: Single Scoop Blusher in "Chiffon Pink"
(Full Size Product: $11)
How adorable is the packaging of this blush? It's meant to look like a single scoop of ice cream, although to me, it looks like a tiny Slurpee with the plastic dome lid! The shade is "Chiffon Pink", which looks subtle and natural on the skin. It does give an almost airbrushed look to the cheeks when applied, and blends very easily. The interesting thing about this blush is that it feels like a cream when it's being applied, but when I went to blend it out with my fingers, it felt like a lightweight powder on my skin. I love the finished look that this blush gives: subtle, soft and natural! It feels really nice on the skin too! I checked out the Dearberry website to see what other kinds of products they have, and I really love their packaging! I hope they continue to pop up in future Memeboxes.

Shara Shara: Lemon Tea Pore Stick
(Full Size Product: $12)
As you know, Shara Shara and I have a very rocky relationship. I've called them The Doll Head Brand for so long that I almost forgot they also have very cute and/or useful products with nary a doll head in sight! This is one of those products! The Lemon Tea Pore Stick is enriched with lemon, lime and apple extracts and is used to control excessive oil and sebum, brightens skin tone, and leaves a soothing, cooling effect wherever it's applied. It's suggested that this is used before makeup application by rolling over the t-zone, or any oily spots on the face. You can also use this product after makeup application by dabbing it over oily spots. My skin has been extremely dry since the cold weather rolled in, but I tend to be an oil slick when I wake up in the morning, so I'll keep this by my bedside for those oily-faced emergencies!

Navillera: Traditional Dessert Soap
(Full Size Product: $5)
What dessert box would be complete without an actual dessert? If only! This little soap looks good enough to eat, and was chosen at random out of a collection of 9. These soaps are handcrafted in to the shape of "hwa gwa ja", which is a Japanese traditional sweet dessert that is served with tea. It's formulated with natural ingredients including sweet pumpkin, cacao, wormwood powders, camellia oil etc.  I think that a small collection of these soaps displayed on a small tray would look adorable in a bathroom or on a vanity. I just can't bear to use it, but it will make a great decoration!

Overall Thoughts
My Dessert Box cost about $30 shipped, and had a total retail value of $113. I am so happy with this box. It's been a long time since I've been thrilled with every item in a Memebox, too! While some of the products included are a stretch to meet the "dessert" theme, I still think they did a pretty good job overall. The curation is excellent in regards to variety of products and brands as well. It's a skincare-heavy box, which I like, but interestingly enough I was wooed by the only makeup product in the box: the dearberry blush. The packaging, the formula and the quality are all excellent!
I think that this box as a whole was a home run for me, and I am so excited that I snagged this one! Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, (second boxes in a series are almost never as good as the original) but I would definitely consider getting another one of these boxes if they continue using this theme!

  5. great review! I hope that I get the mint hand cream too, as that would make the box for me. There are a few items in here that I really like, such as the cream and the shara shara lemon tea - I hope I get a cute soap too! The only product that I probably won't use is the Petit Prince as I am not a fan of all-in-one products as I have SO many products right now!! #kbeautybloghop

    1. I totally agree with you! The more products I use at once, the better! LOL I think this cream might work best for me in the AM. It absorbs quickly and moisturizes without feeling greasy, so it seems like it's going to be a good thing for me to slap on quickly so I can hurry and get my makeup done before rushing out to work. I'm always in a rush in the morning, so multi-use products work well for me in that regard :)
