Memebox "For You" Thanksgiving Edition #2 Review and Unboxing

I know it's kind of late in the game to be posting about the Thankgiving Memeboxes, however I was lucky enough to be sent this box for review! So let's go back in time, imagine ourselves sitting at the table with our family and friends, noshing on turkey and stuffing. Ahh I miss Thanksgiving already!
There were 2 Thanksgiving boxes that went on sale: "For Me" and "For You." The idea was to gift yourself the first box, and gift the second to a lucky friend or family member. Some people were concerned that they were the same box, however once spoilers were released, it was discovered that they were two completely different boxes! While I sort of preferred the contents of the "For Me" box, I do think that this one was also filled with lots of great products!
(yet again, I apologize in advance for the grainy/dark photos. I took a handful of photos on Christmas Eve night, as I knew I wouldn't have much time to get them done during the holidays and I wanted to get my reviews up in a timely manner!)
(product info card tells you more information and how to use each product)
If you're new to Memebox, they are a website that sells Korean beauty products, but their most popular items are of course, the Memeboxes. These boxes are full of deluxe samples and full size Korean beauty products and are delivered to you all the way from Korea. Memebox has been kind enough to create a FAQs page that you can view HERE if you want more info on the boxes, as there are many to choose from!

This particular box is one of their special edition boxes, which are based around a specific theme.
"Thanksgiving Edition: For You" cost $23 plus $6.99 shipping, and includes 8 products.

Pure Smile: Essence Mask Sheet in "Milk" and "Strawberry Milk"
(Full Size Product: $2 ea)
These Pure Smile masks are enriched with milk protein, raspberry extracts, vitamin E, collagen and hyaluronic acid, which work together to moisturize, protect and balance the skin. Pure Smile is a regular fixture in Memeboxes, and they're one of those drugstore-type brands that are relatively inexpensive. Luckily, I find it to be a really great brand! Some of my favorite items (Snail hand cream and lip treatment) are made by Pure Smile. Their sheet masks are pretty standard- I don't find them to be the greatest masks I've ever used, but they are nice, non-irritating, and fit well on my face. No complaints here!

With Shyan: Nail Lacquer in "Blue Violet"
(Full Size Product: $4)
I have a few products from With Shyan, all nail related, and I've been very impressed with the quality of their line. The cuticle oil and nail treatment I received in the Hand and Nail Care box are both fantastic, so I'm actually happy to see a polish from them in this box. There were 4 different colors that I could have received, but I am over-the-moon about this one! I don't have a shade like this in my small collection, and I think it's a really gorgeous blue/purple tone for the colder months. I'm actually going to take some time to fix up my nails today (they look awful!) and give this polish a whirl.

Saracen: Fluorescent Nail Glitter
(Full Size Product: $6)
Ehhhh. This is kind of a let down product for me. It's supposedly hexagonal nail glitter that is applied by painting on a nail color and then sprinkling the glitter on the nail while the polish is still wet. Then you apply a topcoat to hold it in place. However to me, this just seems like glitter in a jar. I could go to Michael's and buy a giant container of glitter for the same price as this retails for, not to mention I'm not really into high-maintenance nails. I already spend an hour on skincare each night and an hour on makeup, I don't need another super-long routine. My nails are usually painted and taken care of to the minimal degree, so I can't see myself using a fussy glitter on them anytime soon.

Peripera: Heart glow Stick in "02 Gold Aura"
(Full Size Product: $14)
This is a cream highlight from Peripera, which is a very popular cosmetics brand. While I find many Korean cosmetics to be sort of drugstore in quality, Peripera has always impressed me with their quality products and inventive packaging. This highlight is super creamy, and made with marine collagen, deep ocean water and hyaluronic acid, so it not only applies very smoothly, but also helps with moisturizing the skin. Since it is a highlight, it's applied on the cheek bones, down the bridge of the nose, on the eyelids as a shimmery shadow base and even on your decollete to give some shimmer. The packaging on this product is out of control. So stinkin cute! The highlight itself is kind of interesting. I'm well versed in pink/silvery highlights, but I've never used a gold-toned one. It's incredibly pigmented and easily blendable, but I think I'm going to need a bit of practice with this so I can make it look natural on my skin.

Shara Shara: White Bear Miracle Multi Cream
(Full Size Product: $18)
We've been seeing a lot of multi-creams in Memeboxes lately, but none have been as darling as this one! While I'm normally not a fan of Shara Shara, I can't help but be drawn to the cute smiling bear and the matte, baby blue jar. This is a nourishing moisturizer with nutrients coming from 30 different kids of plant oils including grapeseed, rosehip and green tea seed oil. It delivers instant moisture and radiance to dry, tired skin. It protects and cares for skin by locking in moisture for up to 48 hours. It also says that this can be used in hair, although I don't think I'll be using it that way. It has a light, citrus-like scent to it which is pleasant, and I like the consistency, so I think I might give this a try. I feel like it will be best used for me on my elbows, knees, heels and those dry patches that are tough to get rid of!

Vivito Painting Sweet Lip Balm in 'Orange Farm'
(Full Size Product: $24)
The Memegods have smiled upon me and given me another one of these amazing Vivito lip balms! I received the "berry farm" flavor in the Oh! My Lips box, and I loved it so much I was hoping and praying to get another. I was weary of the orange name and appearance of this balm, however it turns a beautiful light pink once applied to the lips. It smells like fresh, juicy oranges! I love the jelly-like texture of this balm as well, as it feels super soft and non-sticky on the lips while providing some really intense shine.

Vivito: Illust Lumiere Primer
(Full Size Product: $50)
While Vivito has been showing up in box after box, I never get sick of their products! They're all very high quality and packaged beautifully. Unfortunately, I have 2 very similar products to this primer already, so I'm not sure how fast I'll get to this one. It's a lightweight primer that creates a barrier between skin and makeup. It contains lavender water and bergamot leaf extracts to moisturize, soothe and prime the skin, allowing foundation to glide on and stay fresh throughout the day. It also has something called an "elastic smoothing powder component" which helps control excess oil production while covering pores and fine lines. Sounds like it does it all! While this primer does have a iridescent pink tone to it, it blends out and is incredible stuble on the skin, not to mention it will be covered by a foundation or BB cream, so don't be concerned that you'd look like a disco ball while wearing this! It simply creates a natural-looking luminosity to the skin.

Shara Shara: Brush Set
(Full Size Product: $24)
If there was ever a product to show how incredibly cheap Shara Shara items are, this would be it. Objectively, this set looks pretty cute. I like the metallic look of the brush roll and the pink handled brushes, however that's where my love ends. The brush roll is made out of the cheapest materials known to man. It really feels like dollar-store quality. On top of that, the brushes are not good. Some of them are sub-par and would do the job in a pinch, but you can buy the ELF brushes for $1 each at Target and they far surpass these in quality. There isn't even an eyeshadow brush, but a sponge-tipped applicator on a stick, essentially. This would actually be an adorable brush set for a young girl to play with, but it's not worth $24, and it wouldn't be useful to anyone who is over the age of 18.

Overall Thoughts
This box cost $23 + $6.99 shipping and has a total value of $144.
Since this was curated and themed as a gift for a friend or family member, I'd say that this is quite a nice box. There's a variety of products here that would be great for someone who is new to, or dabbling in kbeauty, although I do think that it's pretty makeup-heavy. The only skincare item is the multi-cream and the sheet masks, so instead of the makeup brushes or maybe the nail products, I would have liked to see another skincare item of some sort. The good news is, the makeup that was included was all pretty nice quality. The Vivito items and the Peripera highlighter were all fun as well as useful. A brush set is a nice addition to a box, but I would have rather seen Memeboxes "Memebrush" set in here instead. The Memebrushes are decent quality and must more user-friendly.
Overall, I think this is a nice selection of products despite the lack of skincare, and I would have been excited to gift this to someone had I purchased it for that purpose. I would still be a bit weary purchasing a similar themed box in the future, as I'd prefer to gift a more skincare-heavy box.

  1. That lip balm is the best, isn't it? I love sniffing them too - haha. It is too bad about the shara shara brushes and their quality - they *look* nice, but based on what you wrote, they are very low quality. I was going to say, how about just replacing the brushes and keeping the bag roll, but even that is low quality!! Looks pretty - perhaps you have a little niece or friend's little girl who might like it for "dress up"

    1. The lip balm is SO nice. I loooove it! The shade looks so pretty and natural on my lips! I had really high hopes for the brushes, as it's always nice to have a travel set or a backup set for when my brushes are drying after being washed. I don't actually have many little girls in my life anymore, but I'm sure I can find someone who will enjoy these!
