Kloverbox February 2015 Review and Unboxing

Most of you know by now that I have my favorite subscriptions. There are ones I try out for a few months and give up on, and others that I fully and wholeheartedly obsess over. They're the boxes that I refresh the tracking on over and over until I see it's out for delivery. The ones that I practically tear out of my mailman's hands before he can even put them down. One of those boxes is Kloverbox.
What makes Kloverbox stand out is their amazing ability to not only curate beautiful boxes, but their community-minded interactions with their customers. Kelly, the owner of Kloverbox, is active and present through Kloverbox's social media. She's always just as excited for the boxes to arrive on our doorsteps as we are, and that kind of enthusiasm is truly infectious. When the owners of a subscription box care about their customers, the feedback they receive, and what products go into their boxes, that's a recipe for success in my book. Most of my regular readers know that I have no problem expressing my opinions when it comes to subscription boxes; It takes a lot to impress me! Opening a Kloverbox is always an adventure; I'm still new to the world of natural and organic products, so discovering new brands and being introduced to products I might have never come across otherwise is such a fun experience!

What is Kloverbox?
Kloverbox is a lifestyle subscription box that sends 4 or more natural and organic products for you to fall in love with each month. This isn't a beauty subscription. Kloverbox sends products from all categories: beauty, health, food and home products, so you can incorporate more natural products into every aspect of your life!

How Does It Work?
On the Kloverbox site, you can choose a 1, 3 or 6 month subscription. The one month and 3 month subscriptions automatically renew, which means you will be billed again once that cycle is over (monthly, or every 3 months.) The 6 month subscription is a one-time purchase; Meaning you will not be billed again once the 6 month subscription is over. This is a great option to gift to friends and family because you won't have to remember to cancel the subscription. The longer the subscription you choose, the more of a discount you get, which is also awesome!
Another really great thing about Kloverbox is that they usually include a coupon code on the information card for each product for that month. So if you really fall in love with something from your box, you'll be able to get more at a fantastic discount.

How Much?
A month-to-month subscription to Kloverbox is $25 per box.
3 month subscription is $71.25 ($23.75 per box)
6 month subscription is $135 ($22.50) per box.
Shipping is free and fast!

COUPON!
You can save even more money by using the code "HB10" at checkout to save 10% off! This code can be used on any subscription.

Here is the February "More to Love" Box, which contained 7 products!
As always, a hand written thank you note welcomes you as soon as you open the box. I think they'll have to hire "Thank you" writers as their subscriber count continues to grow!
Each Kloverbox comes with an info card that gives you the retail prices, information and coupon codes for each item and brand. I really love the coupon codes! It's awesome when I find something I really love and I'm able to buy more from the brands at a discount.
I had to post a picture of the "First Look." Everything was buried in pretty pink paper- pulling each item out was like a treasure hunt!

That's It: Fruit Bar in "Apple and Pear" ($1.67)
This may be the lowest valued item in the box, but it was one of my favorites! I am always looking for healthy snack bars to take to work with me. I work at an aftercare program at a grade school, so it's really hard for me to sit and eat anything without a kid jumping on me or asking me to play Spot It. I can easily stick these little bars in my pocket and snack on them when I get a free minute. These bars have absolutely nothing else in them except for fruit. No additives or extra sugar which is excellent! This bar contains 1 Apple and 1 Pear. It tastes like a natural and delicious fruit roll up. So. Tasty. Even my fiance loved this and he is the pickiest eater I know! These bars have a laundry list of awesomeness: No Preservatives, No Fat, Non-GMO, Gluten Free, All Natural, Kosher, Vegan, Raw, 3g of Fiber, and only 100 calories. Uhm. Yea. Already bought a Sample Pack on their site to try the other flavors! (you can get one for yourself here!)

Ingredients:
Apple. Pear. That's it!

Renaissance Beauty: Orchid Rose Shampoo & Conditioner ($14.50 for both)
Kloverbox features an Etsy store in each monthly box, and I absolute love that idea! I adore Etsy, but there are so many businesses and products to choose from- it's hard to know where to start! Having a featured store each month helps me get to know new small businesses, and allows me to show my support for their products in the future. The February Featured Etsy Store is Renaissance Beauty. Their Orchid Rose Shampoo and Conditioner can be used on all hair types, including dry, damaged and color-treated! The shampoo is sulfate free, won't weigh hair down or strip your color. It's enhanced with argan oils to balance the scalp and nourish hair, and contains ylang ylang oils to maintain hair thickness. The conditioner is enhanced with silk proteins that help heal damage and minimize breakage. Hazelnut oil and honey are used to nourish and hydrate.
I was a little bit nervous seeing the name of these products, as I'm not a fan of anything heavily rose-scented. I couldn't have been more surprised or delighted when I opened these and took a sniff. The shampoo smells like sweet orange, and the conditioner, while floral, has a jasmine/ylang ylang scent rather than rose. After reading some of the rave reviews of these products, I decided to give them a try. My hair is thinning and falling out due to my weight loss surgery, so I am always looking for a well-priced, natural shampoo and conditioner that help with those issues. The low foam in the shampoo (due to no sulfates) takes some getting used to, but since I've been trying to use more natural products for my hair, I've already come around to the no-foam way of life! I cannot say enough good things about these products after just a couple of uses- I have a hoard of back up shampoo and conditioner that I'm going to have to find homes for, because this stuff really did wonders for my hair. It detangled easily, looks smooth and shiny and so much healthier. Absolutely love it!

Ingredients
Orchid Rose Water, Aloe, Honey, Behentrimonim methosulfate, hazelnut oil, silk protein, citric acid, Essential Oils of Jasmine, Orange, Ylang Ylang and Myrrh.

En Bloom by Fit Lush: Lemongrass + Lime Argan Oil Infused Body Scrub ($7.99)
This body scrub contains a blend of nourishing, exfoliating and anti-oxidizing ingredients that help smooth and bring vibrance back to skin. This stuff smells so good I cannot even describe it in words. I love citrus scents, and my favorites just so happen to be lemongrass and lime- so yea...this is kind of perfect for me! Even more awesome is the $5 off coupon that Kloverbox included on the info card. Am I buying more of this immediately? You caught me. Also can we discuss the cute little wooden spoon they included to help stir this up? Ultimate adorbs alert. Grab a scrub for yourself over at the Fit Lush shop!

Ingredients

coconut oil, cane sugar, 100% organic, cold-pressed Argan oil, essential oils- lemongrass and lime, turmeric

Little Barn Apothecary: The Simple Face Oil ($20)
This facial oil contains natural plant based antioxidants that combat dullness, enrich the skin's elasticity and hydration and revitalize the skin to the cellular level. The result is silky smooth skin and a glowing complexion. Facial oils are actually fantastic for protecting the skin's moisture barrier. Since your moisture barrier is made up of fatty acids, when an oil like this is topically applied, your skin grabs all those healthy fatty acids and uses them to repair and strengthen your moisture barrier, making for an overall healthier complexion.
I visited the Little Barn Apothecary website and I'm in love with their aesthetic. It's very earthy and rustic! They have such a wide and lovely variety of products too! They're a brand new company founded in 2014, and their goal is to create safe, alternative, modern apothecary goods that are crafted from organic and wild harvested ingredients. All their products are made in small batches, by hand and contain simple, raw organic ingredients with no fillers or toxic chemicals. Not only do they not test on animals, but they donate 2% of each sale for the Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends Inc, which helps abused and stray animals find loving homes. OK Little Barn, just when I thought I couldn't love you any more!

Ingredients
organic cold pressed hemp seed oil, cold pressed avocado oil, cold pressed jojoba oil, essential oils of lavender and frankincense

Verita Skin: Acai Rose Argan Lip Balm ($5.99)
Verita's goal is to empower consumers with the knowledge of what ingredients go on their skin and in their body. Their company story is a beautiful one that tells about the owners traveling the world and discovering all kinds of natural beauty ingredients and all their legendary benefits. Verita works with women all over the world and helps support economic development in emerging markets, to help continue creating jobs for women. I really love this goal- and it's why I was such a huge supporter of the GlobeIn subscription box. Helping empower women in other countries to use their skills and trades to support themselves is something I really support and am passionate about.
The balm contains pure argan oil that has been harvested and cold pressed by an all-women collective in Morrocco, as well Shea butter that has been sourced from fair trade co-ops in Ghana. The Shea butter doubles as a natural sunblock against UV rays- which is kind of awesome! It also contains Vitamin E an Beesewax that help protect your lips. What's great about this balm is that it can also be used on your hands and cuticles for softening and treating the skin. It contains no parabens, phthalates, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates, no polyethylene glycols or petrochemicals, and no added fragrances.
So while I'm not a huge fan of rose scents, I do have a fabulous lip balm from TokyoMilk that smells like roses, and it's delightful. This Lip balm reminds me so much of that scent, only with a sweet berry flavor mixed in! It smells feminine and lovely. The consistency is thin, yet very soft and moisturizing. This is a great balm for me to carry at work to keep my lips soft and smooth, even when I'm out freezing my butt off on the playground!

Ingredients
Organic Argan oil, organic coconut oil, organic shea butter, organic beeswax, and natural acai rose flavor oil. This product is made from 99% organic ingredients.

Love For Humanity: Anti-Aging Eye Serum ($5)
Love For Humanity Organics is another company featured this month that gives back! With every purchase, they donate a meal to a hungry child through Feed the Children. I really love when companies support an important cause, because it makes me want to support them even more. You can do good things just by buying from small businesses, and you get some really great products on top of it!
This little tube of Eye Serum packs a big punch! It claims to immediately revive puffy skin around the eyes, and I'm telling you-it really does! I applied it to one eye right when I woke up this morning (when my eyes are at their puffiest!) and I immediately noticed a difference between the eye I applied it to and the one I didn't. This serum also works to brighten dark circles and reduce fine lines. The ingredients of Blue Chamomile and Geranium work to calm and heal skin, while reducing skin discoloration. It also contains zinc and vitamin C to help reduce signs of aging. The most interesting ingredient, pumpkin seed, is included to replace harsh alpha hydroxy acids. It naturally exfoliates and helps encourage cell turnover for a youthful glow. While this serum is a bit pricey ($50 for a full size) I needed the tiniest drop imaginable for each eye. I think this little tube will last a while for me, but if it continues to work as well as it did the first time I tried it, I'm going to use the coupon I got from Kloverbox and pick up a full size- it really is that good.

Ingredients
Ingredients: Rosa rubiginosa (rosehip)* seed oil, Cucurbita pepo L.(pumpkin)* seed oil , Carthamus tinctorius (safflower)* seed oil, Ricinus communis(castor)*seed oil, Pelargonium graveolens(rose geranium)* oil, Matricaria recutita(blue chamomile)* oil, Helichrysum italicum (helichrysum)* oil. *certified organic
Overall Thoughts
Kloverbox costs $25 per month, and the February Box has a total value of around $55.
Not only is this a fantastic value for an up-and-coming subscription, but especially for a natural/organic themed one! People always say that they don't buy organic or natural products because they're too expensive, but with Kloverbox, you're not only getting a bunch of good-for-you products for a fantastic price, but it also helps in the discovery of new brands and new ways of caring for yourself that are healthy and non-damaging. I rarely go out of my way to research and read about each company featured in a subscription box, but I love to do it with Kloverbox! The companies they choose to work with always have a great story and a greater mission, and it makes me feel good to use, enjoy and repurchase their products.
I am absolutely thrilled with my February Box this month, and I can say (yet again) that this is my favorite box to-date. There is not a single thing that I don't love or won't use, and there's no better value than that!

March is my birthday month (March 3rd I'll be 30! Eek!), so I'm incredibly excited to see what Kloverbox has prepared in next month's box. Since this box was very much beauty/skincare heavy, I would love to see some home goods or lifestyle products in the March box/upcoming boxes. Of course, you know me- I would take a box full of candles every month if I had the choice! My addiction is real, guys!

If you want to sign up for Kloverbox (and why wouldn't you??) You can do that here!
Don't forget to use HB10 at checkout to save 10% off any length subscription!

    1. hahaha yesss come over to the dark side! ;) I'm super happy you signed up- I really do think they're one of the best subs out there right now, especially for those of us who are maybe starting to get burnt out on subscription boxes. I feel like there's always something new and interesting for me to try in Kloverboxes. Hope you love it as much as I do!

    1. I could not agree more- There are some decent natural/organic/eco-friendly boxes out there, but none that have made me crazy-excited for the price or for the products included. It's always awesome when each month goes by and I'm even more impressed. They definitely stand out way above the rest of their competition in my opinion- I think my favorite part is their featuring an etsy store each month- not many boxes do that, and there are so many great products to be discovered on etsy!

  7. Hi, Rachel,
Can you tell me what the ratio of full sized to sample sized products are? ( I'm OLD and can't read the oz. or other sizes on the card). I have learned that I do not use sample sized things in a box. IDK why, it's just a thing of mine. I'm wondering if Kloverbox and I would be a good fit. :) Thank you!

    1. Hey there! :)

It actually depends on the month and how many products are featured. There have been a few months that I've received all full sized products, and other times where it's more of a mix. This month the lip balm and the little barn apothecary products were full sized, as well as the snack bar. The shampoo and conditioner were very substantial, although the full sizes are a bit larger, I assumed these were full size when I first took them out of the box. I don't think I've ever received a box from them that has all sample sizes or all small sized items. They're always very substantial!
