Not too long ago, Memebox collaborated with Stephanie Villa (aka youtuber, Soothing Sista) on her very own Memebox. While I didn't purchase it, I thought it was a nicely curated box and probably one of my favorite youtuber collaborations Memebox has ever done. I think many others agreed, as the box sold out lightning fast! Memebox and Soothing Sista have teamed up again to bring us a really lovely and on-trend eyeshadow quad!
When I first took a glance at the shades in the Soothing Sista Palette, I decided against buying it because it has a very similar color scheme to the Naked 3 palette which I own and love. However once Memebox released it, I took a second look and realized it would be the perfect little travel palette! I've mentioned a few times in the past that I really love quads for traveling. You'd be surprised how many looks you can create with just 4 shadows! So of course, I used up what I had left of my memepoints and grabbed this palette along with some Missha body lotion and waited (impatiently) for my package to show up so I could do some swatching!

The Soothing Sista Palette comes in a really nice box with Stephanie's picture on the front. How cool is her hair, seriously?
The shadows do photograph a bit on the brown side, however they are all pink/rose-toned shades. There are 2 matte shades, one shimmer and one glitter.

-This palette retails for $17 on the Memebox website, however you can also buy it in a variety of bundles. If you're interested in grabbing more than just the palette, you can snag a few really nice deals. Check them out HERE! I think the $34 set is an especially great deal!
VALUE SETS
Now back to the palette!
VALUE SETS

Here's the top of the palette, which is also adorned with the Soothing Sista and XO Memebox logos. I find that the packaging on this palette is quite sturdy! It feels well-made and like it could stand to be jostled around in a purse or an airplane carry-on without the shadows getting damaged. It has a click-into-place clasp, like a typical hard black shadow case, which I prefer to magnetic. I also love the fact that this quad also has a mirror inside for quick on-the-go touch ups.
It's worth mentioning that there is a sponge-tipped applicator included, and while it's better quality than the ones you'd find at the drugstore, you're still going to get a much better application if you use an actual brush.

Inside the palette, you find 4 shades:
Sutro- (matte) Light Dusty Rose
Valencia- (matte) Medium Pink Brown
Candy Rain- (shimmer/metallic) Burgundy Rose with Silver Microglitter
Bae Area- (shimmer/glitter) Peachy Pink with Incandescent Glitter
(diffused natural light)
(direct sunlight- no flash)
When I popped this palette open, It was pretty much love at first sight.
I love pink/burgundy/rose gold color schemes in shadow palettes. I
think one of my favorite smokey eyes to create on myself is with deeper pinks
and berry tones! I really like that there are a variety of finishes
featured in this palette as well, although I did find the two very
similar matte colors to be a bit redundant, but let's see how they
swatch!

(dim natural light)
Bae Area
This shade comes off as a rose gold/peach tone, and it is very glittery. It does take a little bit of effort to get this on without a ton of fallout, but the payoff is worth it. The shade is gorgeous and would make a stunning highlight for the inner corner of the eye, or all over the lid for a really dramatic sparkly look.
Candy Rain
This is probably my favorite shade in the palette. I really love cranberry-toned shadows, and this one is a stunning metallic shimmer with a punch of pigment. I think this could be used in the crease as a defining shade, but it could also be used all over the lid for a more dramatic look.

Valencia
This is the darker of the two matte shades in this quad, and I'd say it's a transition color between Sutro and Candy Rain. It has that almost smokey-tone to it like Sutro, however it leans more cranberry shade-wise, like Candy Rain. This is also a great shade for the crease if you're doing a natural look using Sutro as the lid shade. This is a very versatile color though- and I'd probably use it on my lower lash line, blended out to get a really pretty smokey look.

Sutro
This is the palest shade in the palette, and appears to be a matte dusty rose. I find it to be incredibly similar to Valencia once it's applied to my eye. Where you see them differ is when they are applied concentrated in the crease. You can really build up Valencia to a deeper shade for some natural definition in the crease, however Sutro is really better for using as a all-over-the-lid shade, or for blending out harsh lines in your eye look. This could also be used very lightly on the brow bone to finish up a look, especially if you have a deeper skin tone.

Pros:
-Beautiful Color Scheme (fits with the Marsala color-of-the-year as well!)
-Versatile, with many different eye looks possible.
-Pigmented, paraben free shadows
-Long staying power
-Travel friendly
-Can be worn lightly or more intensely for day-to-night looks
-Well-made case that includes mirror
-Priced very well

-Fallout with the glittery shade (Bae Area)
You can clearly see the Pros to this palette far outweigh the cons, and I could not be more thrilled to add this into my collection! The shadows are high quality, pigmented, and stay on my eye all day without fading or creasing (when a primer is used underneath.) I have been fighting a tooth infection from Hell, so I've been spending most of my time in bed and haven't been able to wear these shades out and about yet, but I cannot wait to start coming up with some looks! I think this palette will make for a subtle, yet pretty day look, as well as a really sultry smokey eye! I highly recommend picking this up. At $17, you really can't go wrong!

Ooooh, the shimmer and glitter shades look like they'd be my favorites :O
ReplyDeleteWow) It's my favorite color))
ReplyDeleteWow, the giveaway is international, I didn't think it would be now that Memebox has stopped shipping internationally?
ReplyDeleteHi Freya! Memebox has stopped international shipping, however I purchased the palette for the giveaway and I will personally be shipping it to the winner. :)
DeleteAh that makes sense, that's very sweet of you then x
DeleteI was kind of bamboozled by all the palettes they released together (this and the Pony ones) and what with that and stopping international shipping it all just passed me by really. However, this palette looks absolutely beautiful and I wish I'd had the chance to buy it!
ReplyDeletehaha I was too! I actually didn't get the Pony palettes although I thought those were priced really well- they definitely were tempting, but I have more palettes than any normal human being should own! I just thought this was such a great selection of shades and quads are one of my favorite palettes to buy because they're versatile but not overwhelming!
DeleteI love this quad as well! I don't have UD naked 3, so this works out nicely. If you have the pony original palette, these colors go nicely with it too :) Fantastic review, Rachel!
ReplyDeleteI unfortunately don't have the Pony Palettes, although I'm super tempted by them- especially the second one! The first one is beautiful, but I have so many neutral palettes I could never use them all in a lifetime! All 3 Nake palettes, thebalm Nude Tude palette, both Coastal Scents revealed palettes...and that's just the ones off the top of my head haha ;)
DeleteSo Pretty!
ReplyDeleteI actually like this quad more than I thought I would. I'm not a fan of pink shadows, but these show up more brown on the swatches and the pink just adds a subtle hint that would flatter any skin tone.
ReplyDeleteI used to be the same way with pinks until I got the Naked 3 palette- powdery pink or bright pink are not flattering on most people, but these pinks with brown undertones are just gorgeous!
DeleteI would love to try this palette!
ReplyDeleteI passed on this palette while memebox still shipped internationally and regretted it! It looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing with the first 2 Pony Palettes and now I'm wishing I got the bundle of both of them when it was available!
DeleteThanks for telling me about the value sets with the soothing sista palette. Those look good, I may actually order!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Deanna! I agree they're actually pretty nice! If I didn't already have most of it I would have definitely picked up the $34 one!
DeleteThis quad looks really lovely! I think the colors are incredible.
ReplyDeleteThis quad looks gorgeous! I love the subtle pink shades. It would look great against my hazel eyes!
ReplyDeleteIt really would!! Pinks are really flattering on most eye colors and people don't usually realize it!
DeleteCandy Rain and Valencia are my two favorites, too. I've been wearing the colors from this quad for the past two days. While I like the color of Bae Area, I'm finding the glitter fallout is just too much for me. It needs a very light hand. I'm just using it as a highlighter under my browbone today to see if I still have fallout issues only using just a little. All the colors are so pretty, though, and just my style :D
ReplyDeleteI did an eye look yesterday thinking I could use Candy Rain in the Crease since it's deeper, but nope...having an all matte look with a metallic crease did NOT work lol. I used valencia on the inner half of he lid and Candy Rain on the outer half and blended them together- worked MUCH better. Took Valencia to my lower lid and used Bae Area on the lower inner half of my lid to brighten it up a bit. I found using a white or light colored eyeliner first and then gently patting Bae area on top helps a lot with the fall out. I buffed out the harsh lines with Sutro, and the look was really gorgeous!
DeleteGreat giveaway, Rachel, thank you !
ReplyDeleteThis palette looks really interesting and I've never tried any of Memebox product so it could be good for me !

You should definitely try their makeup line! I was hesitant at first but I have purchased all their shadow duos and 2 of every type of lip product (lip tint, lip crayon, lipstick) and I think they're absolutely fantastic quality and an excellent price!
DeleteThank you for the warm recommendation !
DeleteThanks for the giveaway! This looks like a beautiful palette!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a pretty good palette for only $17! I especially love Candy Rain. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI agree that is also my favorite shade! And I'm actually surprised at how well-priced the Memebox makeup line is. Everything is really nice quality- packaging AND product! Very impressed!
Deletelovely palette
ReplyDeleteGreat review! I missed out on this one before they stopped international shipping and regretted it as I honestly never thought that pinker tones would suit me ... until I started using the red glitter Peripera pigment from one of the christmas boxes and I LOVE it! x
ReplyDeleteI am the same way with reds and pinks- I never ever wore them or was interesting in picking them up until I got the naked 3 palette- then my whole word changed! Especially doing a pink-toned smokey eye...it looks so gorgeous!
DeleteIf they still shipped internationally I definitely would have been tempted by this! Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteJust a heads up on that Julia- you can go to the "want" forum of Tester Korea and request that they carry this palette- they've carried Memebox products before- it's definitely worth it if you're seriously interested in picking it up!
DeleteThanks for running this giveaway. This palette looks so much nicer in your pictures than it did on their site.
ReplyDeleteI've heard from quite a few people that they thought it was neutrals/browns rather than the berry and pink tones. I wonder if the bad photographs of it are effecting the sales??
DeleteI love the look of this palette. I have been eyeing the naked 3 for a few months and these colors definitely seem to be in the same family. Thank you for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Judith! As someone who owns both this and the Naked 3 palette, I'd say while I personally love both of these, there's just no competing with the color selection of the Naked 3. The shadow pigmentation and quality are very close between the palettes too. This one is perfect for someone who might get overhwhelmed with too many shades in a palette and not know what goes with what, or someone who just wants something compact. :)
DeleteLove those pink shades! Thanks for making this an international giveaway!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! International giveaways don't happen nearly enough!

ReplyDeleteI love Memebox shadows, they really stay on my lids. I have two Pony palettes.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to grab the pony palettes- I didn't get them when they came out but now I regret it! I love their shadows as well- very high quality for the price!
DeleteNow I wish I bought his palette when Memebox had the pre-order thing but I didn't really liked it when I first saw it. But it really reminds me of the Naked 3 and because I won't be able to buy that one (yay for being a student) this one looks like a nice alternative and I think it compliments the Pony palette that I got from Memebox.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this giveaway~ Oh and I want to ask you, have you used the 3W mask sheets from RRS? I got them las week and I can't wait to use them!
Haven’t been able to try Memebox despite reading all sorts of good reviews online, hence I would really like to try this palette which probably ain’t available in my country as well ):
ReplyDeletethanks so much for the giveaway! :)
I love these colors they are SO gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks! xoxoxo
These colors are absolutely stunning! I would totally use this palette to create a sexy date night look, but I also think as soft the colors are it would be very easy to create a wonderful "working daytime" eye look that would be easy to spruce up for a dinner date with the hubby or friends! Thanks for the chance to win this amazing set!

ReplyDelete(Rosie A)
Ooooh, I've been meaning to try the much-raved about Marsala range of shades on myself and this would be the perfect opportunity to do so. Plus, the fact that they stay put on the eyelids makes them all the more tempting.
ReplyDeleteI think you'd really love this palette Neha! It's perfection for getting that Marsala eye look without it being too pink or too red. It really works on all skintones and eye colors I've noticed!
DeleteIt's adorable! Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity <3
