Naturebox February 2015 Review and Unboxing

This is my 3rd official month back with Naturebox, and I've been absolutely loving the service so far! I subscribed years ago and was not really impressed with the snacks, the layout of the site, or the service, but I am so happy to say how much they've changed for the better! The snacks are fresh and have a wider variety, they don't regularly go out of stock like they used to, and the website is much more intuitive and easy to use. It's also very easy to cancel your subscription now- which was nearly impossible to do in the past. You used to have to send an e-mail to the company, but now you can do it with just one click. This is especially helpful to anyone who just wants to give it a try for a month or two, rather than buying a larger subscription.
I rarely change my mind this much about a subscription, but it seems like Naturebox did a really good job listening to the complaints they had when they first started, and really put all the suggestions into practice. February is my 3rd month, and I have been more pleased with Naturebox than with any of my other snacking subscriptions!

About NatureBox
NatureBox delivers a world of carefully sourced and nutritionist-approved foods right to your door. Each snack contains wholesome ingredients - with no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors. Snacking has never been so deliciously fun and naturally easy.

How It Works
NatureBox has you choose a subscription plan from the following options:

Free Trial
This option is a small sampler box that contains 5 different snacks. It's free, however they have a $2 shipping charge on this box, AND it rolls into a monthly subscription. So if you are interested in this option but do not want a subscription, make sure you cancel as soon as your box ships.

Monthly
You can also choose to pay month-to-month for your subscription, which is $19.95 per month.
There are also discounted rates for subscriptions that are paid in advance, so if you know you'll be subscribing for awhile, these are good routes to take.
Each box contains 5 snacks, and to my knowledge, an occasional "bonus snack" that NatureBox chooses and adds into your box.

Many Options
You can leave your box up to chance, which has NatureBox choose all the snacks that will be in your box, or you can browse their snack library and add things to your "pantry." This will let NatureBox know which snacks you are interested in trying, and they will incorporate them into your box.

Add-Ons
You can also add extra snacks into your box. Each snack costs a different price to add on, however the more you add on, the less the snacks cost.

So now that we've got the basics out of the way, Let's take a look at what I got in my NatureBox, and what I thought of each snack!

Coffee Kettle Popcorn
This is one of those snacks that you really have to eat in moderation. The little coffee-coated popcorn pieces are quite yummy, however if you eat too many of them in a row, you start to have a bitter aftertaste in the back of your throat...similar to if you were drinking black coffee. If you're a java fan like I am, you will like this, but make sure you just eat it in little handfuls at a time! The one thing that bothers me about this popcorn is that it came in a regular bag, rather than a resealable one. I'm not sure why that is, but I'm hoping they change it- it was pretty hard to keep this closed!

 Apple Pie Oat Clusters
This is my first of 2 repeat snacks. I love these little oat clusters! They not only satisfy my sweet tooth, but they feel really rustic and wholesome. These are great to take with you on the go if you missed breakfast, or just want a quick mid-morning snack. The apple flavor is really strong, and while I don't think they taste like an apple pie, I'd say they're closer to an apple crumble in terms of flavor and consistency. Definitely a good one for people like me who love sweets and need healthy alternatives!

 Parmesan Garlic Pop Pops
This is the second repeat snack in the bunch. I got a bag of these again because my entire house is obsessed with them. I even brought them to work and all my coworkers were shaking them out into their hands all day! These little half-popped corn kernels are soft like popcorn, but have a bit of a crunch to them since the shells are still slightly intact. The Parmesan/garlic flavoring is intense, so if you're not a huge fan of garlic, I would avoid these like the plague. Let me tell you- if you eat a handful of these, people around you can smell your breath from 30 feet away! It's so totally worth it though- they have a really satisfying flavor and consistency for anyone who craves salty/savory snacks!

 Peanut Butter Nom Noms
I loved the Dark Cocoa Nom Noms so much, that I just had to try the Peanut Butter variety! Weirdly enough, I don't think these have even a slight peanut butter flavor. I don't detect it at all. I can't imagine why they would call these peanut butter nom noms when the flavor isn't there. Still, these are still really delicious! I'd say the flavor is more of a sweet cinnamon with tiny little chocolate chips mixed in. Very yummy! My younger sister had an issue with the consistency of these- she said they were a little "pasty" for her. I find the consistency kind of like a cross between a dense cookie and an energy bar.  I don't personally have an issue with it, but I wanted to throw that out there in case you were considering trying these! I find them to be the perfect substitute when you're really craving a cookie!

 Banana Bread Granola
This is another snack that suffers from being super delicious, but not tasting like it's title. This granola does have little dried slivers of banana in it, however I don't feel like it has a very strong banana flavor. My sister also tried this and while she doesn't like bananas, she thought this granola was pretty tasty. I think it tastes more like a honey-flavored granola with a little nuttiness to it. What I noticed about this granola is that it comes in much larger pieces than some of the others I've tried from Naturebox. If you're like me and you eat granola right out of the bag, having these larger pieces is awesome. If you like to sprinkle your granola on top of yogurt or oatmeal etc, you might want to break up these larger pieces a bit first.

Overall Thoughts
So it looks like I didn't get a bonus snack this month! I honestly have no idea how they figure out the bonus snacks. Does anyone else? Are they completely random? I got them 2 months in a row, and now- they seem to have disappeared! While I of course only pay for the 5 snacks, it's kind of nice getting the bonus snack. That way I can try something that NatureBox has picked for me that I might not normally choose. Hopefully I get one in my March box!
Aside from the bonus snack mysteries, I found this to be a really great box again this month! The only snack that I didn't really love was the Coffee/Caramel popcorn. I think it was just a bit too sweet, and had a slightly bitter aftertaste that I just didn't find appealing. Plus I'm not a fan of the fact that it doesn't come in a resealable bag like the other snacks. However I also got 2 returning favorites, and 2 new snacks that I'm really enjoying! I have a lot of sweet snacks queued up for March! It's my birthday month, and I think in order to avoid eating too many cookies and slices of cake, I'm going to need some healthy sweet snacks around!
