Teadora: Nourishing Body Polish Review

I love body scrubs, especially during these freezing cold Winter months! I take really good care of my facial skin, but sometimes I can get a bit lazy with the skin on my body. I love to use a good body scrub twice a week to slough off dead skin, but I also like to make sure that it's actually doing it's job, and not just scratching and irritating my skin. I came across a company called Teadora, and really loved what they stood for. I've put more information below, but their products are not only made from the environment, but are good to the environment. It's really impressive what they are able to accomplish with their brand and products. I was very excited to try out their body polish, especially, considering my skin is kind of a mess right now due to the bitter cold and endless snow we've been getting here in New England!

Who is Teadora?
In Portuguese, Teadora means "adore yourself." At Teadora, we show our love for the world with natural and organic products made with novel rainforest ingredients. Our products let you experience the abundance and magic of the Amazon, while helping to improve the lives of the communities where we live and do business. At Teadora, we strongly believe that body and haircare products should not only provide nourishment to your skin and hair, but should also be full of active ingredients that truly make a difference.

Our ingredients are harvested and sourced with respect for Mother Earth. 100% vegan, and no animal testing. We use no parabens, synthetic fragrances, silicone, gluten, phthalate, sulfates or other harsh chemicals, to make you feel good inside and out. Our ingredients are fair trade sourced, sustainably harvested, carbon reduction focused, recyclable and biodegradable.

Feel Good, Do Good
Teadora products are made from raw, natural, and organic ingredients from the Amazon that are harvested in a sustainable way with respect for Mother Nature. By purchasing Teadora products, you support sustainable agriculture in Brazil to help stop rainforest deforestation. You are also funding a philanthropy exchange between the US and Brazil that promotes youth education, leadership development and health.

Teadora’s unique blend of sustainable Brazilian ingredients removes dead skin, minimizes ingrown hair, smooths and brightens skin. Rainforest at Dusk is a unique, 100% natural scent: for those of you who love a subtle, soothing, sexier scent that relaxes you after a long day.

This Nourishing Body Polish contains the Teadora Hydration Elixir, which is a combination of 5 amazing oils (Buriti, Babassu, Brazil Nut, Rose Hip Seed, and Maracujá), which in addition to the ingredients: Pitanga, Cupuaçu, Andiroba and Acai, are full of free radical-fighting antioxidants, vitamins and oleic and fatty acids that help to revitalize your skin.

Some of these ingredients were quite unfamiliar to me, but luckily, Teadora had some excellent explanations about their more commonly used ingredients on their website:
Buriti is an amazingly powerful ingredient. It contains the highest concentration of natural vitamin A among fruits and vegetables. It is also rich in Vitamin E, Vitamin C and antioxidants and has been used for generations as a natural UV ray protectant. Its amazing anti-inflammatory properties also help to promote skin healing.
Maracuja (or Passion Fruit) is known as the "Pure Miracle" in Brazil as it brightens, moisturizes, heals, and repairs skin and hair without feeling greasy or heavy. Good for all skin types-from dry to oily.
Brazil Nut is a light, sweet, and nutty oil that is wonderful for the entire body. It absorbs quickly, and provides powerful moisture and healing to the skin, hair, and face.

For exfoliation and mineralization, this scrub contains Açaí Seeds, which are used to protect skin from damage caused by pollution, UV rays, and stress.  Amazonian Clay is also included to reduce dry patches and remove oil from the surface of skin for a clear, smooth, flawless look.
You can use this scrub in the shower as an exfoliating wash, or use on dry skin to absorb the minerals and vitamins of the ingredients more effectively.

The Teadora Nourishing Body Polish comes in 2 scents: "Rainforest at Dusk" and "Rainforest and Dawn."
Dusk has more of a deep, woody scent, while Dawn is slightly more bright and vibrant.

Here are the scent descriptions:
Relax in the rainforest. Smooth, sexy, floral notes of Rose Absolute and Geranium blend with  hint of orange and coconut to sooth and revitalize your senses after a long day. Feel the cooling air against your skin. Hear the patter of rain on the leaves overhead. Smell the luscious ylang, night blooming flowers and the rich warmth of cedarwood. Listen to the calls of night monkeys. Dusk in the rainforests of Brazil is a delight for all your senses.

Wake up in the rainforest. A bright sparkling, citrusy burst of bergamot and lemon swirl with woods, fresh florals, basil and eucalyptus to awaken your senses and ready you for the day ahead. Hear the calls of the colorful birds, smell the lush exotic flowers and juicy black currants. Feel the dark, fertile soil under your toes. When you walk in the rainforests of Brazil, your senses come alive like never before.
For this review, I chose the "Rainforest At Dusk" scent, which I found to be very bold and earthy. I even found that it had a bit of a pepper-pod scent to it, which was actually pretty pleasant. I think the scent is also gender-neutral, so anyone in the family could really use and enjoy this.

Aqua, Organic Coco Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Kaolin (Brazil White Clay), Decyl Glucoside, Diatomaceous Earth, Bentonite, Organic Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Bertholletia Excelsa Seed (Brazil Nut) Oil, Pumice, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Kosher Glycerine, Euterpe Oleracea (Açaí) Seed Powder, Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil, Passiflora Incarnata (Passionfruit) Seed Oil, Organic Rasa Canina (Rose Hip) Seed Oil, Organic Mauritia Flexuosa (Buriti) Fruit Oil, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit (Açaí) Oil, Mauritia Flexuosa Fruit (Buriti) Extract, Non-GMO Tocopherol (Mixed-Ester) Vitamin E, Ascophyllum Nodosum, Panthenol (Pro Vitamin B5), Caprylyl Glycol, Eugenia Uniflora Fruit (Pitanga) Extract, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C) Ester, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Natural Fragrance.
While you've got to admit the appearance of this scrub is, uhm...gross-looking to say the least, I love that it has kind of a wet consistency. There are so many scrubs that are really dry and crumbly, and they're impossible t use dry, or when you wet them, they dissolve too quickly. Not only does this scrub feel really moisturizing, you're able to use a small amount and apply it to a large area of skin.
I find that this scrub does a fantastic job at exfoilating my skin without stripping it of it's moisture. So much so, that when I get out of the shower and dry off, my skin feels soft and moisturized, not tight and dry. Adding a nourishing lotion to the skin as soon as you step out of the shower really helps as well. I always apply lotion when I get out of the shower, but I can feel a major difference in how soft my skin is when I combine it with this scrub.
What I personally find really nice about the scrub as well, is that it sort of acts as aromatherapy when used in a warm shower. You can smell it all around you- the bathroom even feels like it's scented with this stuff once you get out of the shower. This is a great thing if you like the scent, and I do, but it might be an issue for anyone who is sensitive to scents, so keep that in mind!

Overall, I think the Teadora Body Polish really does stand above the other body scrubs I've tried. I love the organic, natural ingredients, the scent selection and the consistency of this scrub. I think what I love the most is how little you need to exfoliate your entire body. I have a 1.5oz tube, which retails for $10. There is a larger 6oz tube that retails for $34. At first look, I thought there was no way I would be able to get more than maybe 3 uses out of it. After using it a few times, I'm thinking I'll be able to use it at least 8-10 more times.
I've enjoyed this scrub so much that I've already ordered a small size of the Rainforest at Dawn, as I'm super curious to see how that scent compares to the Dusk scent!
