NatureBox March 2015 Review and Unboxing!

I get quite a few snack subscriptions nowadays: Love With Food, Something Snacks, Graze Box and Naturebox, and each one of them has their own benefits. When it comes to Naturebox, I think that what makes the stand out from the other subscriptions is their wide variety of snacks, and how you can completely customize your box. I love how generous the portion sizes are as well! Each month when my box arrives, I bring it with me to work so my coworkers and I can test everything together! I love getting a wider range of opinions on the snacks because taste is so relative! Since I love reviewing this box and letting people know my thoughts on the snacks, it's important to showcase more than just my opinion!

About NatureBox
Naturebox delivers a world of carefully sourced and nutritionist-approved foods right to your door. Each snack contains wholesome ingredients - with no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors. Snacking has never been so deliciously fun and naturally easy.

How It Works
Naturebox has you choose a subscription plan from the following options:
 Free Trial
This option is a small sampler box that contains 5 different snacks. It's free, however they have a $2 shipping charge on this box, AND it rolls into a monthly subscription. So if you are interested in this option but do not want a subscription, make sure you cancel as soon as your box ships.

Monthly
You can also choose to pay month-to-month for your subscription, which is $19.95 per month.
There are also discounted rates for subscriptions that are paid in advance, so if you know you'll be subscribing for awhile, these are good routes to take.
Each box contains 5 snacks, and to my knowledge, an occasional "bonus snack" that Naturebox chooses and adds into your box.

Many Options
You can leave your box up to chance, which has NatureBox choose all the snacks that will be in your box, or you can browse their snack library and add things to your "pantry." This will let Naturebox know which snacks you are interested in trying, and they will incorporate them into your box.

Add-Ons
You can also add extra snacks into your box. Each snack costs a different price to add on, however the more you add on, the less the snacks cost.

So now that we've got the basics out of the way, Let's take a look at what I got in my Naturebox, and what I thought of each snack!

Cranberry Pepita Crisps
Each month, I try to get as many new snacks as possible so that there's always something new in my reviews each month. While I simply can't resist getting bags of my favorites (as you'll see I did later on in this review) I also want to grab things that don't really interest me off the bat and see if they surprise me. The cranberry pepita crisps are one such snack. Nothing about them really jumped out at me, however I thought they might be interesting, so I chose them for the box this month. I've got to say, I really like these! The easiest way for me to describe the flavor is a crispy cinnamon raisin bagel. I taste cinnamon for sure, and the cranberries taste a lot like raisins when they're baked onto these crisps. There's a bit of sugar on these as well. While I did not notice it much, a few of my coworkers thought that these were weirdly "salty" although I found them to be more sweet than anything. They have a crispy texture and are really satisfying when you want to crunch on something! My only major issue with these is the packaging. As you can see from the photo, they come in a non-resealable bag. I still have no idea why some snacks come this way and others don't, but I really dislike it and hope they phase these types of bags out!

Dark Cocoa Nom Noms
This is a returning favorite for me. I could not resist grabbing another bag of these because I love them that much! I find that these have a very rich, chocolate flavor and a consistency that is similar to a cross between a soft energy bar and an oatmeal cookie. My coworkers had mixed feelings on these. While they all agree the flavor is delicious, one of the found the consistency too "pasty" and the other found it a little on the grainy side. I for one, have absolutely no issue with the consistency and think they're super delicious, but it's something to keep in mind if you're picky with food consistency! I find these to be absolutely perfect to snack on when I'm seriously craving something sweet!

Dark Chocolate Pretzel Pops
This is a limited edition snack, meaning that it's only available for a short period of time or specific season. NatureBox is constantly rotating new limited edition snacks in and out, so while you may not always be able to get specifics ones year-round, there are always new and delicious snacks ready to take their place! These little pretzel pops kind of look like large versions of the Cocoa Puffs Cereal. They're light in consistency- lighter than a typical pretzel, I feel. The chocolate tastes and looks more like a cocoa powder rather than actual chocolate. These are a great alternative to chocolate covered pretzels, because I can eat an entire bag of those in one sitting if left unattended! These little guys are a great alternative. I find them to be slightly on the bitter side, but that's to be expected with dark chocolate. These were a hit with my coworkers as well.

Sea Salt Pop Pops
I have reviewed the garlic parmesan pop pops in the past as they're a big hit not only in my house but at my work as well! I decided this month to give the sea salt variety a try! These are essentially half-popped pieces of popcorn. So they have that softness, but the outer shells also give these a great crunch-factor. They're not hard to chew like a fully formed kernel, which is nice. The sea salt flavor is delicious, and I find that these taste exactly like Fritos! These were also a big hit with everyone, although I do personally prefer the parmesan garlic variety-even though it makes people miles away able to smell my breath! I've said it before, steer clear of the parmesan garlic unless you really love those flavors; It's incredibly intense!

Toffee Almond Granola
Ohhh my goodness this is some delicious granola. The little shavings of almond, the airy, crisps mixed in with the toffee-coated granola clusters...it's just heavenly. This one was a big surprise with my coworkers. Many of them said they weren't fans of granola, although found themselves really enjoying this one! It taste like the fancy version of the clusters in Honey Bunches of Oats. I feel like this would taste amazing sprinkled on top of some vanilla yogurt or cinnamon oatmeal!
Overall Thoughts
There wasn't a single bad snack in the bunch this month! I picked up an old favorite, a few new choices, and a snack I wasn't even sure I was going to like, and they all ended up being delicious. I find that NatureBox gives you an insane amount of granola in each bag, so I love getting granola every month to top all my sweet breakfast foods. I do wish that the pepita crisps came in a resealable bag. I am going to take some time to reach out to NatureBox about these bags and see if this is something that they can change in the future. Overall though, this was a very successful box! I am crossing my fingers that none of the snacks I chose for next month sell out before I get my box- There are some really interesting ones that I can't wait to review fo you guys!

  1. I love reading your reviews because I signed up because of you!!

I just learned that you can send your box early, instead of waiting a full month. Like if you run out of snacks within 2 weeks or something, you have the option of sending your box early which is really awesome.

Also, those dark cocoa nom noms are like crack. I know I say that every time but I know of nothing else that tastes like those and they are amazing and I would like to live on those alone haha.

I got the parmesan garlic pop pops because of your review too, and you're right they are AMAZING (and potent!) I didn't love how at the bottom of the bag they were just old maids (that's what my husband calls kernels. does everyone call it that?) and not the half fluffy half kernels like the rest of the bag. Regardless, big fan.

Have you had the harvest nut mix? I didn't think I'd like it but I surprisingly did!

    1. Oh thank you so much!! I'm glad I could introduce you to all the snacking glory that is NatureBox! I wasn't always a big fan of theirs but I cannot tell you how impressed I am with how they've improved their snacks and their service over the last year. I DID notice how you can send your box early- how convenient is that?? I've avoided doing it because then I feel like I would keep sending my boxes earlier and earlier and end up getting like, 2-3 boxes a month LOL- sometimes I cannot stop snacking on these that my box is gone before you know it! ;)

I'm so glad you love the dark cocoa nom noms too!! A few people that have tried them in my family/friends group have said that they have a weird texture, but I seriously love them! They're so dense and decadent- I feel like whenever I'm dying to eat a sleeve of oreos or a big bowl of ice cream, eating one of the nom noms really kills that craving in such a satisfying way- I just can't stop getting them!

And oh yes I LOVE the parmesan Garlic pop pops, but yes they are SOOOO strong! LOL If you love Garlic (like I do) they are amazing, but I'm telling you- I know when my fiance is trying to steal some out the bag because you can smell them from across the house! haha :D

I feel like I have tried the harvest nut mix...it may have been a bonus snack that they included in one of my boxes awhile back and I was pleasantly surprised with it as well! I need to start being a bit more adventurous with my choices from them- I'm interested to see how many snacks I end up liking that I didn't think I would!
