I'm normally not impressed by subscription boxes. I will get them for review purposes so I can share them with anyone who might be interested in learning about them, but I've been around the subscription box block so many times that companies really need to have an innovative hook that makes them stand out from the pack. Birchbox has their points system, PopSugar has their beautiful curation, Kloverbox has their personal touches and well-thought-out brand choices, and Wantable has their amazingly customizable boxes. It's hard to beat that line up for me, but Scentbird swooped in and stole my heart! It was love at first spritz!
Scentbird is a subscription service that is not only convenient and fun, but also incredibly customizable! You know how much I love customization- there is nothing worse than getting a box full of products you don't like or can't use! For $14.95 per month (or less if you subscribe to longer plan) You will receive a 1 month supply of a designer perfume of your choice! You can also decide not to choose if you're feeling adventurous, and Scentbird will send you their choice of the month.
I love this idea because full size bottles of designer perfumes can be insanely expensive, and it's rare that I ever have $100+ to spend on a scent at one time. I can easily pay $14.95 each month to have a perfume for whatever mood, season or event I happen to have planned!
If you're unfamiliar with this service here's how it works:
Step 1: You Sign up for a plan that fits your needs.
A 1-Month Supply of Perfume costs $14.95 per month. The more months you purchase in advance, the less you spend overall.
Step 2: Take the Scent Personality Quiz
Scentbird will ask you a handful of questions to get a better idea of the types of scents you like, and what scents would fit your personality best.
At the end of the quiz, Scentbird will then ask you to list a few perfumes you love to help match you with similar scents. In the picture above I've shown how this works by listing out my personal Top 3.
Step 3: Choose Your Scents!
Here is the Scentbird Dashboard. On the left you can see what I like to call the "Scent Queue." This is where you can add perfumes to your month-to-month queue, in whichever order you prefer. If you feel like browsing perfumes, they make it easy for you to browse unfamiliar scents, too! By simply hovering over the picture of the bottle, you can see the scent notes, occasion, and description of each perfume. You can also rate each scent to help with better customizing your suggested perfumes.
Also, if you'd rather ignore Scentbird's suggestions, you can search perfumes by brand, style, occasion, notes etc. It's a great way to explore all the different brands and fragrances they have to offer! Scentbird currently has over 350 designer fragrances, and growing!
On your first month, you will receive a luxury case for your spray, as well as a little velvet bag to hold it in. The months following your first month will not include these items, however. The second month and beyond will only include your 1-month supply of perfume.
The luxury case is incredibly cute and portable! You simply slide your vial of perfume into the case and twist to lower it. When you're ready to apply your perfume, just twist in the opposite direction and the spritzer will slide up! Your case also comes with a sleek black velvet bag to protect it from banging around in your purse.
While Scentbird used to only offer black cases, they are now experimenting with different colors! This is a first look at the pink case, and omgosh is it pretty! I'm not entirely sure if these are available yet on the site, although I'm assuming you'll be able to choose the color you'd like at checkout. Scentbird also explained to me that they are going to be working on a way for current subscribers to add these cases onto their monthly shipments, so if you want a few extra cases, or just multiple colors, you'll be able to do that as well.
While last month I decided to go with my all-time favorite, signature perfume, this month I decided to choose a perfume that is not only a classic, but a perfume that has been recommended to me time and time again for its similar notes to my favorite Dior Addict. Tom Ford Black Orchid is truly a classic perfume that has been loved and adored by so many women. I felt it necessary to finally be able to smell it and see what I thought!
The custom grown (and über rare) TOM FORD BLACK ORCHID is the show-stopping note in this incredibly luxurious scent. Sultry woods and rich fruit accords help to bring out the skin's natural perfume, and the jet-black, art-deco inspired bottle adds to the fragrances overall glamour. 1oz of this perfume retails at $75.
Black Truffle, Black Orchid, Black Plum, Noir Gourmand Accord, Patchouli.
Luxurious. Sensual. Timeless.
This is a unique, woody scent that would be great during the Fall and Winter months or for a date night! This is an intensely deep and sensual scent. While it's not one of the main notes, I can definitely smell a touch of something spicy- it's almost like spicy incense when you first spray it on. The Patchouli is not obvious, but mixed with the orchid/floral it's absolutely stunning. I don't find it to be as strong or feminine as my Dior Addict, but it's incredibly sexy and smokey, which is exactly the way I like my perfumes. I do think this scent teeters on being a bit mature, but I can definitely see this being worn by a young woman with a really sharp fashion sense. It's very modern while staying a classic.
I truly love a subscription that can offer me something that other can't. Scentbird is a new and fresh idea that not only provides the customer with a great, customizable experience, but also makes it more affordable and convenient to try and own a variety of designer fragrances. I love the travel-friendly luxury case, and how easy it is to switch the vials in and out so you can take any scent with you on the go. This is my 3rd Scentbird package, and even though each vial provides 1 month of perfume, there are always those days where you stay at home watching Netflix, or simply don't apply perfume on a particular day. Because of that, I've found that my Scentbird perfume vials last much, much longer than their 1-month projection. That allows me to sort of build a little collection of perfumes that I can switch in and out with my mood. I really do love this subscription and highly recommend it to anyone who loves perfume as much as I do!
