This is my second month receiving the Wantable Intimates box, and while the first one wasn't a total success for me, I know a box that is as customizable as this is going to take a few months to start reflecting my interests and style. Luckily, Wantable offers free returns, so I feel like there's no risk in continuing my subscription. If I don't like something, I can just ship it back and get a refund!
I was hoping for some cute undies and socks in my box this month. Even though I really love getting pajamas and loungewear, I mainly signed up for this subscription because I am terrible at buying new underwear and bras. I will buy makeup and skincare until my credit card is maxed out, but for some reason my clothes and under-things will be worn until they fall apart!
(feel free to skip this section if you're already familiar with Wantable!)
Wantable offers a variety of different subscriptions, each one of them costing $40 per month. There is a way to make the price lower, which I will explain later.
The boxes that Wantable currently offers are Accessories, Makeup, Intimates and Fitness. You are able to subscribe to one or all the boxes on one account if you so choose!
Wantable is much different from other subscriptions in that it's completely customizable and risk-free. You take a profile quiz to tell the stylists exactly what you want or don't want based on a "Love, Like, Don't Want" scale. They will never send you something you have marked as "don't want." If you hate necklaces, you'll never get them. If you are tired of getting red lipsticks in subscription boxes, you can simply tell wantable you never want them. Problem solved! You can take the profile quiz as many times as you want- so if one month you want to get socks and bras, but don't want any the following month, simply change your preferences! It really is that simple!
Here's what makes this a really interesting experience: You can return your entire box if you're not happy with it. Even better? You can return or keep as many or as few items as you want! Not only do you get to tell them exactly what you like and don't like, but you can return anything you're not really into- or even return the whole box for a full refund!
You can start the return process on their website and be done in just minutes. You're able to see how much credit you will receive for the item you're returning, and then you can print out a return label free of charge. Then simply stick the item(s) in the box everything came in, tape the label to the box and leave it outside for the mailman!
$4 Credit for Keeping Everything
If you decide to keep everything in your box, Wantable will reward you with a $4 credit, which you can put toward your next box, making it only $36. This way, you're rewarded for keeping your products, however you also get credits or a refund for anything you return. You really can't go wrong!
There is nothing I hate more than a subscription box that doesn't have a way to cancel easily and quickly! As if Wantable couldn't get any better...they allow you to cancel your subscription with one click on their website. If you don't want to cancel, but would rather skip a month or two, they also have a "skip" button available. Awesome!
So enough of the details, let's get into what I received in my April Wantable Intimates box!
(Technically speaking, this is the MARCH Intimates box, although they don't ship it until the end of the month, and I don't get it until early the following month. I just date them differently on the blog since by the time I receive the box, the month it's dated for is already over. Since everyone gets something different in their boxes, I'm simply reviewing them within the month I receive it.)
Here's the first peek at my box! I noticed that there were definitely some PJ's going on in there! Each box includes a booklet that reminds you of the survey choices you made (what you like, love and don't want) as well as a list of your included items with more information about each one.
Per Lei Intimates: Spring Fling Top in "Aruba Blue" ($16)
Objectively speaking, this is a pretty standard PJ top. I love the color, and the fabric felt soft and comfy, but my major issue was the fit of this shirt. I'm a plus sized lady, however most XXL tops will fit me. This one definitely fit width-wise, however it was SO short on me that it was almost a crop top. I have a larger bust as well, so that makes shirts that fit normally on most people much shorter on me. This one would have been a great top for Spring loungewear if it had fit me the right way.
Per Lei Intimates: Spring Fling Bottom in "Aruba Blue" ($16)
My main complaint last month was receiving a pair of pj pants that not only didn't fit, but didn't have a top to go with it. I'm actually quite happy that Wantable included a set in my box this month. these pj pants are really thin in a good way- they're the perfect fabric for Spring/Summer. I still loving the blue color and the striped pattern of these pants, although there is one glaring issue:
They're Capri's. Not Pants.
While I think the cute lace detail at the bottom of these is super cute, I really despise capri pants. They stop at the largest part of a woman's leg, making the leg look stumpier and wider. No thanks. While I understand that I'm not going out in public with these on, my other capri pant gripe is that they feel weird on me. It just makes me feel like I'm wearing a pair of pants that are too small for me. No bueno. As cute as these are, I know if I kept them they would never get worn.
Dreamwave Pajama Drama: Pom Pom Tank in "Peach" ($18)
So where do I begin with this one? First of all, this is clearly pink, not peach, but I'll let that slide. Second: the pom poms. I just can't. I wanted so bad to find them cute or whimsical, but I just kept seeing them and thinking that it looked like the details of a clown costume or the tassels on the end of an area rug. Really disliked the pom poms. This top was also too short on me. I'm not sure if I just have a really long torso, or if my chest is really gigantic, but it was such a bummer to get two tops that didn't fit me length-wise. Am I the only one who likes semi-loose, roomy clothes to sleep in? Anyway, this one just wasn't my style.
Dreamwave Pajama Drama: Pom Pom Pant in "Peach" ($18)
Woohoo! These pants are made of a super-soft, thin, and incredibly comfortable material with an elastic drawstring waistband. Seriously, they felt like heaven and fit like a dream. However there was just one glaring issue:
The damn pom poms are back! UGH. These pants were so insanely comfy that I attempted to blind myself to the stupid tassels dangling from the bottom of the pants, but since they were a bit long on me I kept stepping on the pom poms and it was a pretty uncomfortable experience. Alas, I had to come to terms with the fact that these would probably collect dust in my closet if I actually kept them, although if I really wanted to, I could have cut off the pom poms- I just felt like if I was going to keep these, I shouldn't have to mess with them to get them to work for me.
Verdict: Hesitant Return
The Wantable Intimates box costs $40 per month, and my box had a retail value of $68. While that's a pretty good value, I really don't get Wantable boxes for value-reasons. I like to take the quiz and customize what I get, and then see what they come up with for me. It's kind of a fun experience- one that doesn't always work out in my favor, but I still enjoy it!
I love that Wantable gave me two loungewear sets in my box, and if they both fit me and were my style, I would be overjoyed with this month's selections. I was really hoping for some undies, but if these sets had worked for me, I would have been even happier with these choices. I'm definitely in the market for some new Spring/Summer pajamas! I usually give subscriptions 3 months or so before I decide whether or not to cancel. While Wantable makes the return process a piece of cake, I'd much rather skip the headache all-together if I just end up returning the entire box at the end of it all. I am holding onto this sub and getting the May box to see if it improves in any way, and I'll probably tweak my quiz a bit to see if I can get things that are more my style. If May still proves uninteresting for me, I suppose I'll just stick to Wantable Accessories!
