Beauteque Monthly: June 2015 BB Bag Review

(Apologizing again for the dark photos- I had to take them during a storm as we didn't have good natural light for days!)

Not only did my June BB Bag arrive on my doorstep this past week, but basically every other subscription that I get was also stacked up in front of my door on the same day. This entire month I've been sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for things to arrive and nothing was showing up. Of course it's just my luck that everything not only shows up at once, but during a dark and dreary 2-day storm! Sadness.
Even with all the rain and lightning outside, I was super excited to get a new pile of kbeauty goodies from my BB Bag! I think what I love about this subscription is that I truly never know what to expect. I think that Beauteque continues to improve each month, and even when I'm not 100% in love all the products I get, I like that I can at least try them and come up with an opinion on them. Since the kbeauty world is so vast, subscriptions are a great way to add things to your shopping list or cross things off of it! While you might pay a monthly price for a subscription, they do end up saving you money in the long run! Not only will you have to buy less product, but you'll be able to start figuring out which brands you like/dislike and what products you need more of etc. I've always been an avid supporter of subscription boxes, but kbeauty subscriptions are particularly useful!

Now that we've got the details out of the way, let's get onto the June Bag!
This month, the makeup bag that everything arrived in is a silver satin with a cute Paris-like print on it. While I already have too many makeup bags, I think this one is really cute and would happily gift it to someone. It feels like good quality as well.

Witch's Pouch: Lip and Eye Remover ($10)
There was a time when I felt like I didn't need makeup removers like this because I always used an oil cleanser to remove everything. However there have been nights recently (late summer nights!) where I just don't want to get out of bed to do my skincare. I know, I know. But a combination of a really solid makeup remover and cleansing cloth(s) will do the job pretty well for me as long as I'm not wearing a lot of makeup. I first became familiar with Witch's Pouch through Memebox, and while I haven't tried a ton from them I've so far been impressed. I tried this makeup remover last night and it does a fantastic job taking off my stubborn mascara, so it's a win for me! I'd love to see more from this brand in future bags!

TonyMoly: Cotton Nail Ball ($4)
Alright...these might be the cutest cotton balls that ever existed. I never thought I'd get so excited to see cotton balls in a beauty subscription, yet here I am! I actually already have the Etude House version of these on my vanity, but I never want to use them because they just look so cute! I'm super happy to have these ones so I can actually use them and also keep some for decoration! I also think the addition of cotton balls to go along with the Makeup remover was a great choice!

iCharming: Nail Polish ($5)
It seems like iCharming is the company that also owns Witch's Pouch, so I'm happy to have something else from the brand to try out. I think the packaging of this polish is super pretty, unfortunately I'm not a big fan of the shade. I don't mind glittery polishes necessarily, but this one is a bit young-looking for me. I think I'll use it just to see how the performance is, but I will most likely pass this on to a friend. I don't think we've gotten a polish in awhile though, so it was a nice addition for anyone who's a big nail lacquer fan!

TonyMoly: Timeless EGF Second Skin Eye Goggles ($7)
I squealed when I pulled these out of the package, I'm not going to lie. Many of you know I absolutely love eye gels, eye masks and any kind of eye-based skincare product. It's really the only place on my face that I've started to see aging, so I'm always looking for a magical product that will smooth out any of the fine lines that have started to crop up. This isn't a regular eye-gel though. Rather than just going under your eye, these are "goggles" or a full eye mask that surrounds both eyes. It also has eye flaps that you can place over your eyelids if you'd like to use it while laying down. It claims to have anti-wrinkle and brightening properties, so I of course immediately opened/used it.
It's a hydro gel mask so it stuck quite well to my face, although the eye holes were a little too big and it didn't seem to cover my crows feet-area-where I feel like I need it the most. Even so, I loved how smoothly it fit to my face, and it didn't slide around at all. I left this on for quite awhile- probably about 40 minutes, until I felt the edges start to dry out a bit. After removing, I have to say while my eye area felt refreshed and moisturized, I didn't see a visible difference. I'm not sure if it's one of those products you need to use multiple times before you see results, but since it has a listed price of $7, I don't think it's something I would buy again to see if that's the case. It was a nice treat for my eyes, regardless!

Baviphat Strawberry Toxifying Mask ($26)
Baviphat Peach All-in-One Peeling Gel ($5)
Here we've got a full size and a sample size product from Baviphat. I've tried a few things from this brand, and in particular the Lemon Whitening Sleeping Pack broke me out pretty badly so I've been super weary since then. Having said that, I've tried both of these products and my skin still looks great, so maybe it was just something in the sleeping pack that caused the issue. Let's take a closer look at each of these fruit-shaped beauties, shall we?
First we have the little sample jar of the Peach Peeling Gel. This is to be applied to dry skin and rubbed in a circular motion until the product begins to dry and flake up. Then simply rinse your face with warm water.
This product has a nice peach scent, and a subtle amount of "scrubbiness" to it. I normally don't put anything abrasive on my face to exfoliate; Instead I exfoliate with AHA/BHA acids, but this seemed mild enough to give a try. Like with most peeling gels, I feel like most of the "dead skin" you see is really just the product piling up when you massage it- but even so I do think that it pulls up some of the dead skin while you're massaging. This particular gel really did leave my skin feeling soft and smooth after using it. I'm not 100% sure if i would invest in a full size, but I think I'll continue to use this sample up and see what I think after a few more uses.
Next up we have the full size Strawberry toxifying mask. If you like the smell of strawberry yogurt, you're going to need to restrain yourself from eating this stuff- it smells so good. This is a wash-off clay mask that tightens pores, controls sebum and relieves irritated skin. It contains strawberry extract and fruit acids that help remove dead skin cells and tighten pores. It also contains antioxidants that help with signs of aging...sounds like the perfect mask for my skin!
To use this, you simply apply to clean, dry skin and leave on for 15-20 minutes or until it has dried, and then rinse with warm water.
I've given this mask a try already and I have to say I really like it! I love that it comes with a little spoon because I despise digging my fingers into these masks and getting dried clay all under my fingernails! The mask spread smoothly over my skin and felt really soothing- there wasn't any tingling or irritation after applying this. I felt a bit of tightening as it dried like you normally would with a clay mask, and that feeling remained after I washed it off. The tightening quality of this mask definitely helps with pore size, although I think it's most likely a temporary effect. Regardless, I am really liking this mask so far and it's probably one I will continue to use frequently during the warm months! It's great for controlling oil, which I have way too much of during the Summer!

May Island: Peach Hand Cream ($6)
Not too long ago, I received the TonyMoly version of this hand cream in another subscription. I think this one smells very similar and feels similar as well. This lotion contains peach and apricot extracts as well as shea butter and feels really moisturizing. I find it does leave a little bit of a greasy-feeling on my skin after I put it on...but I'm openly admitting I slather lotion on my hands, so that might be the reason why it felt oily!
Overall Thoughts
The June BB Bag cost $24 (plus shipping) and has a total value of $63.
I think the June bag was one of my favorite BB Bags so far. Not only did it look like a fruit basket, but it contained a lot of really nice products as well as things I've never tried before! I love the practicality of the makeup remover and the whimsy and fun of the cotton balls and fruit-shaped products. I have to say my favorite product is definitely the Baviphat Strawberry mask! It really was the perfect product to put into a summer bag since it helps control oil and soothes skin. The only item that wasn't up my alley was the polish, however as I'm typing this, I think I just might give it a try on my toenails. While it's not my style for my fingers, I think having some sparkly toenails will put me in a good mood!

  1. I really love the Strawberry mask so far! It really helped to reduce redness and it just smells SO GOOD.

    1. It really works wonders!! I'm not usually impressed with many wash-off masks but this one is something I'm highly considering repurchasing in the future!

  2. This was a very whimsical bag! I tried that Baviphat peach a long time ago and remember liking the scent, so your description really makes me want to try the strawberry mask. Mmmmmm strawberry.

    1. You absolutely have to! Seriously as much as the lemon sleeping pack broke me out, I didn't want to admit it because I loved the smell of it so much! Both of these products haven't irritated my skin at all so it must have been something specifically in the lemon pack that did it, but all of their fruit-container products have the absolute BEST scents!
