Now that I've been receiving the Wantable Accessories box for quite a few months now, I feel like I appreciate their business model more and more. I love jewelry and accessories because I feel like I'm able to wear a relatively simple outfit, and take it to the next level with the right pieces of jewelry. And while I'm of the mindset (sometimes) that I can never have enough, I also realize that I need to draw a line somewhere. The good thing about Wantable is that you can easily return any pieces you're not in love with and get a quick refund. There's no hassle, and no risk. I'm becoming pickier when it comes to what I want to keep and what I want to send back lately because I really want to pare down my jewelry collection a little bit and only keep the pieces that I wear regularly, or the pieces that I have for special occasions. Of course, there are accessories that I "didn't know I needed" which is where Wantable comes in. I don't need to spend hours digging through jewelry racks at a department store to find something that works with my aesthetic, but it's sent right to me each month!
(feel free to skip this section if you're already familiar with Wantable!)
Wantable offers a variety of different subscriptions, each one of them costing $40 per month. There is a way to make the price lower, which I will explain later.
The boxes that Wantable currently offers are Accessories, Makeup, Intimates and Fitness. You are able to subscribe to one or all the boxes on one account if you so choose!
Wantable is much different from other subscriptions in that it's completely customizable and risk-free. You take a profile quiz to tell the stylists exactly what you want or don't want based on a "Love, Like, Don't Want" scale. They will never send you something you have marked as "don't want." If you hate necklaces, you'll never get them. If you are tired of getting red lipsticks in subscription boxes, you can simply tell wantable you never want them. Problem solved! You can take the profile quiz as many times as you want- so if one month you want to get socks and bras, but don't want any the following month, simply change your preferences! It really is that simple!
Here's what makes this a really interesting experience: You can return your entire box if you're not happy with it. Even better? You can return or keep as many or as few items as you want! Not only do you get to tell them exactly what you like and don't like, but you can return anything you're not really into- or even return the whole box for a full refund!
You can start the return process on their website and be done in just minutes. You're able to see how much credit you will receive for the item you're returning, and then you can print out a return label free of charge. Then simply stick the item(s) in the box everything came in, tape the label to the box and leave it outside for the mailman!
$4 Credit for Keeping Everything
If you decide to keep everything in your box, Wantable will reward you with a $4 credit, which you can put toward your next box, making it only $36. This way, you're rewarded for keeping your products, however you also get credits or a refund for anything you return. You really can't go wrong!
There is nothing I hate more than a subscription box that doesn't have a way to cancel easily and quickly! As if Wantable couldn't get any better...they allow you to cancel your subscription with one click on their website. If you don't want to cancel, but would rather skip a month or two, they also have a "skip" button available. Awesome!
Here's a peek at how I rated things on their survey. As I mentioned, Wantable will never send you anything you've listed under "dislike" and they will try to send you more things from your Love category if they possibly can.
As you can see from my preferences above, I almost exclusively wear "bohemian" style pieces and I prefer gold tones. So while you may not love everything I receive, the great thing is you will get accessories more closely catered to you!
Here's what was in my July Accessories Box!
Wantable usually sends 4 accessories each month and they're normally housed in 2-3 branded bags. This time, I obviously got a pair of sunglasses (yay!) and the other 3 pieces were put inside the other pouch.
The first piece I pulled out of the bag was the largest: the Cara Necklace. This featured gold-toned metal and layers of pastel/candy-colored beads. While this piece definitely has a bohemian vibe, I'm much more into simplistic pieces. I gave it a chance anyway and tried it on, but it just looks like a clown collar on me. I'm sure someone else could pull this off beautifully, but unfortunately this was a no-go.
The next piece is the Amy Coin Bracelet. It's a delicate gold bracelet that features several hammered and texturized gold coins. I don't really think these looks like "coins" personally, but more like discs. I wish they did look like actual coins because this would have made the piece a lot more interesting. To me, this just looks like something that Claires would have in their "boho" section in the sense that I have seen this style bracelet a million times before. It's not bad- it's just not something I like enough to want to keep.
I have been craving a pair of sunglasses from Wantable for awhile now, and they finally hooked me up with the Mary Kate Sunglasses. Unfortunately, these are also not my style. I also don't think they really fit the "bohemian" style that I request in my boxes. This is kind of rock and roll to me. Pastel pink with leopard print arms? Orange/Purple mirrored lenses? Ehhh nope. These are definitely trendy and I wish I could pull these off, but I just look absolutely ridiculous in them. Unfortunately, they're a pass. I am still hoping for another great pair of sunglasses from Wantable, though- my 2 favorite pairs have come from them!
The last piece in the pouch this month was a pair of earrings. The Kathleen Earrings are much more up my alley in terms of style. They make a quiet statement. I like the simple spike detail with the two-toned stones, and I like the gold toned metal. What made me hesitate about keeping these is that I have long hair that I usually wear down. I need earrings that are a bit more "dangly" so you can see them through my hair. I think these would get lost in my hair and no one would be able to see them, not to mention the fact I was returning the rest of the box kind of swayed me to just let these go too.
Last month, I kept everything in my box. This month, I'm returning everything. I don't think anything included here was necessarily bad, but nothing wowed me enough to want to keep it in my permanent collection. If this was a review on how well the pieces fit my style, I'd say Wantable got a 5/10. However, the fact that I can toss these back into the box they came in and print a free return label in under a minute is what makes me absolutely love Wantable. There is no buyers remorse, no feeling like I got ripped off, because I can just send it all back. I only keep the pieces I love, and I'm refunded for the ones I don't. It seems like such a simple idea that more "box" companies should consider, but it's almost unheard of in the subscription world, which is why I constantly comment on it. I admit I was a little disappointed that I didn't get any new and exciting pieces to add to my collection this month, but I'm hopeful that next months box will be a winner for me!
