Too Cool For School Egg Mousse Pack Review

It's rare that I have the time or energy to do a review on a specific skincare product. I seemingly go through and use so many products that it's hard to know where to begin sometimes! What's kind of fun though, is when Memebox sends me products to review, because it kind of forces me out of my skincare comfort zone, and makes me start looking at products with a reviewer perspective rather than just a skincare fanatic. Most recently, Memebox sent it's "Ambassadors" (what they call those of us that do reviews for them) quite an interesting facial brush (review to come!) as well as the Too Cool For School Egg Mousse Pack. I don't usually go out of my way to purchase wash-off masks because I rarely have time to use them, so while I had heard of and seen this product around, I had never tried it myself!
What it is:
This wash off essence type pack is the perfect skin pick-me-up for anytime of the year. It forms a fine lather mousse that removes excessive sebum and impurities from your skin without that tight sensation. Whiten, brighten, nourish, and moisturize your skin with the protein and vitelline extracted from eggs to refine and create a radiant complexion.

Ingredients:
water, betaine, butylene glycol, lauryl phosphate, isopentane, trehalose, carbon dioxide, arginine, potassium laureth phosphate, laureth-1 phosphate, polyglyceryl-10 laurate, egg yolk extract (900 µg),  albumen extract, dipropylene glycol, potassium hydroxide, glyceryl caprylate, caprylyl glycol, PPG-3 caprylyl ether, acrylates/C10-30 alkly acylate crosspolymer, sodium citrate, citric acid, xanthan gum, carbomer, disodium EDTA, phenoxyethanol, fragrance

Without getting to much into "packaging" where I bore you to death, this product comes in a metal bottle with a button-press top that creates the "mousse" or foam. You do have to shake this well in order to get a thicker, creamier mousse, so keep that in mind!

Here's a little swatch of this foam so you can get an idea of it's consistency. It's a soft, very slightly sticky foam and luckily- it doesn't smell like eggs! It has a very light fresh scent, which is nice.
How to Use:
1.Shake the can before applying
2. Squeeze a small amount into your hands (TCFS suggests a ping pong ball size, but that seems like WAY too much- half that size should be more than enough!)
3. Slather the product onto your face, avoiding the lips and eye area.
4. Wait for the product to absorb and sink into your skin. (about 10 minutes or so)
5. Rinse off once the product has disappeared and you're left with a sticky film on your face.

This product is kind of interesting because you apply it to dry skin, and it sort of looks like you've got shaving cream all over your face! Rather than washing it off shortly after, you essentially wait for all the little bubbles to burst and disappear before rinsing. Here's an example of what it looks like.

Freshly Applied to Skin:

5 Minutes After Applying:

About Ten Minutes After Applying:
As you can see, about 10 minutes later, most of the bubbles have popped and disappeared, leaving behind a shiny, slightly sticky film. Once this happens, you can rinse the mask off with warm water. I didn't have too much trouble getting this mask off, but since it's hard to see, make sure you rinse thoroughly!
Results and Overall Thoughts
To be honest, I wasn't expecting too much from this product considering it doesn't have an outstanding ingredients list and it just sort of sits there on the skin. It seemed a bit more like a gimmick than something actually useful, but I was pleasantly surprised! Not only did my skin feel immediately more soft and smooth, I genuinely noticed that my pores had gotten a bit smaller and less noticeable overall. I have used this mask 4 times already, and I also have started noticing a brightening effect as well! I misjudged this product off the bat, and I'm actually really happy I had the chance to try this out because it combats some of my more major skincare issues: dull skin and large pores. I think if you use this mask twice a week for a couple of weeks and then maybe once a week after awhile for maintenance, you'll definitely see a positive difference in your skin if you have similar issues to mine!

  1. I'm glad you had a good experience with this! Mine is still staring at me. You've inspired me, though, to try it even though the ingredients list is pretty lacklustre.

    1. I seriously didn't expect to like it at all. I mean, the ingredients are terrible, but there was nothing that made me want to slather this on my face the moment I got it or anything. When I finally did try this though, I was so surprised at how nice it make my skin look/feel! Sometimes the most unexpected things work so well for me! LOL

    1. It's such a fun product and really different! I thought it would be more of a gimmick than an actual useful product but I was proven wrong! Definitely something to pick up if you like fun masks! :)
