PopSugar Must Have November 2015 Review and Unboxing

This is my favorite time of year of subscription boxes. I love holiday and cold weather themes. Nothing makes me happier than fuzzy socks, body scrubs and warmly-scented candles. While there's something to be said for the bright, fun boxes of Summer- nothing beats a well-curated Fall/Winter box for me! Last month's PopSugar box was pretty nice, but it kind of missed the mark for me curation-wise. Since this month is November, I'm usually thinking about holiday entertaining- I was hoping for a box that would go hand-in-hand with that idea and I've got to say, PopSugar delivered!

The Deets
PopSugar Must Have Box is a subscription that sends you full size "must have" items from all areas of interest: fitness, beauty, skincare, home decor, books- you name it! You never know what is going to show up in these boxes, and that's why they're always so much fun to recieve!
PopSugar costs $39.99 per month, however you can save more by buying a longer subscription, or if you gift yourself a box each month, you can use the frequent coupon codes they have available. You can use the code (REFER5) to save $5 off your first box, currently!

Each month, Lisa Sugar (PopSugar's Founder) will put all of the things that inspired the box on the info card.
This month was inspired by:
friends and family, gratitude, gifting, festivities.

Tarte Cosmetics: Beauty & The Box Eye Shadow Quad ($22)
These eyeshadow quads were an early spoiler for this box- in fact I knew this was going to be included in the November box back when I was writing the PSMH October review. It seems like at least 2 varieties went out, and I received this neutral quad, which I really quite like! You really can't go wrong with neutrals for any time of the year, although the warmth of these really goes well with late Fall, early Winter outfits! Having said that, I have more neutral palettes than anyone else on this planet (I'm convinced) so I might have to pry myself away from this and possibly gift it to someone else. I really love the shades here and how easily these can be used together, though!

Gramr Gratitude Co: Exclusive Thanksgiving Postcard Pack ($10)
This is a set of 5 really beautiful postcards- and while they're a Thanksgiving theme overall, most of them could be used at anytime during the holidays, I think. I think $10 for a package of 5 postcards is a little steep personally, but they're still very cute! I have a big drawer full of stationary, cards, stickers etc and while these will probably be tossed into that abyss and forgotten about until next year, they're a nice addition and go well with the theme/inspiration for this box.

Capri Blue: Mercury Jewel Box in "Rain" ($18.95)
This was the second spoiler that PopSugar released for this box, which is pretty rare considering they almost never released a spoiler in the first place, never mind two of them! I absolutely looooove the look of this candle. The box is handblown recycled glass and the lid is a distressed wood. It's absolutely beautiful! The company encourages that the box be used to hold jewelry and trinkets once the candle has finished burning.
I usually don't like scents that aren't gourmand- I have a think for my house smelling like a bakery, what can I say? Having said that, this scent is very light and fresh. It would work beautifully in a bathroom while taking a bubble bath, or maybe on a nightstand as it kind of reminds me of fresh, clean sheets. It's not overly floral or strong so I will happily burn this beauty!

Terrapin Ridge Farms: Pecan Honey Mustard ($6)
Instead of the usual "snack" included in the boxes every month, the November curation included this interesting edible: Pecan Honey Mustard! This can be used as a dip for pretzels, a glaze or marinade for meat, or in any other way you can think of! I actually think it would be delicious with some pretzels, so I'm saving this for when we have guests over during the holidays!

Deepa Gurnani: Katie Crystal Headband ($56)
OK well...hmm. First off, this is a really pretty headband. It seems like it's well made and that it would really add some simple sparkle to a holiday outfit. Having said that, I can't help but be disappointed that this is the high value item this month. $56 seems like a heck of a lot for a headband. This is handcrafted in India, which is very nice, but I just can't see myself wearing this as it doesn't really fit with my style. I will most likely gift this or give it to someone that will wear it more often than me! Although I think I might just try it out to see how it looks- I might find out that I like it, who knows right?

West Emory: Bingo Set ($20)
Ahh this is why I love PopSugar. What other subscription would give you a Bingo set, am I right? This is such a simplistic, yet chic Bingo set! it comes with really large cards and sturdy cardboard markers/pieces and is housed in a heavy duty cardboard box. I'm not entirely sure why I like this so much, but my fiance and I were geeking out over the potential Bingo nights we could have at the house. I love this kind of item for an "entertaining" or "holiday" theme for a box, so this fits really well for me, personally!

Special Extra: Inkdot Gift Card ($20)
PopSugar always includes a "special extra" which is usually a drugstore brand product, small snack or coupon code/"gift card" for an online store. This time, it's a $20 off coupon code for inkdot.com This service is sort of like shutterfly and the like, where you can take your digital photos and put them on coasters, iphone cases, notebooks- you name it! This is kind of great when you want to get a personalized gift for someone. Last year, I made a mug for my roommate with all of our cats on it and he still uses it every single day! I will most likely use this to buy a fun gift for my friends or my fiance this year. Yay for when coupons are useful!
Overall Thoughts
PopSugar Must Have costs $39.99 a month, and the November box has a total value of $112.95. If you include the inkdot gift card, the value bumps up to $132.95. Honestly, in all the years I've been getting subscription boxes, I have yet to find one that consistently has such a high value like PopSugar. I think this was a nicely curated box this month! I always like to set a scene with the items to see if they work well with the overall theme/inspiration for the box. Since this one was inspired mostly by gathering with friends and family, I say they did pretty well. You can dress yourself up with the eye shadow palette and sparkly, festive headband, light some candles and set out the snacks (yum pecan honey mustard!) Have friends come over to play some board games (including Bingo!) and send out thank you postcards at the end of it all. Works pretty well, right? haha oh me and my "scenarios." As silly as they are, I do think it helps me decide if they curation is solid or not, and this one certainly is, in my opinion! I'm very happy with this month's box, and I am SO ready for the Black Friday deals so I can invest in a 6 month subscription like I do every year. Keep an eye out- it's deeply discounted every year!
