Kloverbox: December 2015 Review and Unboxing (Plus Coupon Code!)

I wasn't able to review the November Kloverbox, so it feels like it's been forever since I've been able to gush about this awesome subscription! Over the past year, I've been trying to switch to healthier, safer products in my home. From skincare to household cleaners- it's been a slow, long-term goal of mine to live a healthier lifestyle in all aspects. However, I promised myself I wouldn't switch out everything all at once, nor would I simply use a product that doesn't work as well just because it's chemical free. I think it's important to experiment and try different things until you find something that fits with your lifestyle and preferences. Over the year, I've found some really fantastic products that I have made a part of my regular routine- some things I haven't found "greener" replacements for yet, but that's why Kloverbox is so great for me! Every month I get to try new and interesting products as well as familiarize myself with organic and/or eco-friendly brands. Little by little, Kloverbox is helping me get rid of all the chemicals and junk products from my life!

What is Kloverbox?
Kloverbox is a lifestyle subscription box that sends 4 or more natural and organic products for you to fall in love with each month. This isn't a beauty subscription. Kloverbox sends products from all categories: beauty, health, food and home products, so you can incorporate more natural products into every aspect of your life!

How Does It Work?
On the Kloverbox site, you can choose a 1, 3 or 6 month subscription. The one month and 3 month subscriptions automatically renew, which means you will be billed again once that cycle is over (monthly, or every 3 months.) The 6 month subscription is a one-time purchase; Meaning you will not be billed again once the 6 month subscription is over. This is a great option to gift to friends and family because you won't have to remember to cancel the subscription. The longer the subscription you choose, the more of a discount you get, which is also awesome!
Another really great thing about Kloverbox is that they usually include a coupon code on the information card for each product for that month. So if you really fall in love with something from your box, you'll be able to get more at a fantastic discount.

How Much?
A month-to-month subscription to Kloverbox is $25 per box.
3 month subscription is $71.25 ($23.75 per box)
6 month subscription is $135 ($22.50) per box.
Shipping is free and fast!

Harvey Prince: "Hello" Tall Spray Perfume ($28)
I'm pretty familiar with Harvey Prince scents because they have been heavily featured in Birchbox for a long while now. I really like the story behind Harvey Prince, because they're a company that started small and worked their way up. The company was started by two brothers who wanted to make the perfect perfume as a Mother's Day gift for their mom. While doing so, they started to realize that boutique fragrances didn't have to be overpriced, or filled with toxic chemicals. Their perfume "Ageless" is what came from that exploration, and Harvey Prince was born! They create fragrances that are high quality, Eco-conscious, cruelty free, vegan and safe to use for pregnant women. The particular scent that was included in this months box is called, "Hello" and it's definitely a fun and vibrant scent. I have sampled this scent many times in the past through Birchbox and I believe Boxycharm, and while I actually do like the scent notes, I think that this particular perfume is best in the Spring and Summer due to it's fruity overtones. The notes are Lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, forsynthia, plumeria, verbena, tahitian vanilla and musk. It is extremely fruit-heavy at first, but the dry down is definitely more of a light, floral musk. It's lovely!

Balanced Guru: Soothe Me Body Oil ($19.99)
I was first introduced to Balanced Guru through an Ipsy bag from years back. I really loved the product I sampled (a body lotion) and I've always been interested in trying more from them. Not only are their products really affordable, but they have a huge variety! Balanced Guru is cruelty free and sustainable, while only using ingredients and materials that are safe for bodies and the environment. Their ingredients are certified organic, cultivated through sustainable harvesting and are great for your skin. What's even better: their jars and bottles are made form 100% recycled and recyclable post-consumer resin. Even their labels and shipping materials are 100% recycled and biodegradable as well as free of harmful chemicals and toxins. This product is their organic body oil which can be used on all types of skin to moisturize and soothe. It doesn't leave a greasy residue and absorbs quickly. It contains a blend of olive, avocado and jojoba oils with arnica extract and encapsulated shiitake mushrooms and goji berries. It has a similar scent to the other product I've tried from Balanced Guru- which is generally a light fruity, almost citrus-y scent. I am super excited to add this into my evening routine because I absolutely love using body oils in the Winter!

Dermadeli: Calm Chamomile Exfoliating Scrub ($21)
Ok seriously though- what is better than a really good exfoliating scrub during the colder months? This one is from Dermadeli, which is a new brand to me. The company was started by a mom who wanted to help her daughter improve her complexion and skin health. It was discovered that pumpkin seed serum has a natural and gentle ability to hydrate the skin along with many other amazing benefits. When blending this magic serum with other natural ingredients- it helped change her daughter's life. They soon perfected a line of skincare solutions that included this solution, and Dermadeli was born! They not only have a line of products for women, but men as well! This particular product is a dry scrub that soothes the skin and buffs away dead skin gently. You simply mix the scrub with a little water and rub it in the palms of your hands to create a creamy lather that cleanses and exfoliates. I used to feel a little iffy about dry scrubs because I thought they were more work than a regular "wet" scrub, but I love that I'm sort of able to mix my own preferred consistency with a dry scrub. I've been using them for awhile now and I'm so thrilled to have this big ol' jar to keep my skin soft and silky!

Kiss Me Honey: Organic Mint Lip Balm ($4.99)
Kiss Me Honey is specifically a lip balm company based out of Las Vegas. They do not contain any chemicals, pesticides, additives or synthetic ingredients, and contain fewer ingredients overall than those sold in stores. They're organic, cruelty-free and eco-friendly! The lip balms they sell are made with organic beeswax, organic coconut oil and unrefined shea butter, vitamin E, grapefruit seed extract, organic sweet almond oil and organic peppermint essential oil for the mint flavor. They carry a variety of different flavors and variety packs on their website. I'm really excited to try this lip balm out for a long-term period because I'm always looking for something to replace my favorite balm, Lypsyl. It's not super easy to find, and I would love to have some alternatives so I can mix it up a little bit!

Overall Thoughts
Kloverbox costs $25 per month (less when you purchase a longer subscription!) and the December box has a total value of almost $74, which is almost 3 times the cost of the box! I thought this was a fantastic box with month with really great curation. Everything, aside from the perfume scent is perfect for caring for your skin during the colder months! Even though the perfume is something I would personally use in Spring or Summer, I will still use it- I just think I would have preferred one of their more "warm" scents like Yogini. Regardless, I'm really pleased with the value of this box and the variety of products. Since we recently received an all-lifestyle box a couple of months ago, I'm totally fine with getting an "all beauty/skincare" box. I admit I am hoping for some candles popping up soon! Can I put in a formal request for a candle in every box? I can't be the only candle-crazy person out there, right? ;)

    1. I totally agree! I absolutely love the products they feature each month, but I especially love their fantastic transparency and communication with customers- it's not something you see very often (if ever!) with subscription box companies!
