Kloverbox April 2016 Review and Unboxing

Apologies in advance for getting a couple of April reviews up late! I really hate when bloggers do that since my brain is usually already on the next month and thinking about what goodies are going to arrive, but I had a few boxes come a bit late in the month and I'm struggling to balance getting everything photographed and reviewed on time while juggling school, multiple jobs and my long-distance relationship. It's been a crazy couple of months, that's for sure!

One box I always want to make sure I get blog about ASAP is Kloverbox. They've been one of my favorite subscriptions for awhile now, and even though I've been burnt out on the majority of subscriptions for the past year or so, Kloverbox is one of the 3 boxes that I'm still incredibly excited to open every month. Without fail, Kloverbox consistently delivers not only useful products, but interesting products that you don't see in every other subscription box, and I love that! I also love that over the time I've been receiving this subscription, I have made small, but meaningful changes in my life that have made me live greener and more organically, which I absolute love!

What is Kloverbox?
Kloverbox is a lifestyle subscription box that sends 4 or more natural and organic products for you to fall in love with each month. This isn't a beauty subscription. Kloverbox sends products from all categories: beauty, health, food and home products, so you can incorporate more natural products into every aspect of your life!

How Does It Work?
On the Kloverbox site, you can choose a 1, 3 or 6 month subscription. The one month and 3 month subscriptions automatically renew, which means you will be billed again once that cycle is over (monthly, or every 3 months.) The 6 month subscription is a one-time purchase; Meaning you will not be billed again once the 6 month subscription is over. This is a great option to gift to friends and family because you won't have to remember to cancel the subscription. The longer the subscription you choose, the more of a discount you get, which is also awesome!
Another really great thing about Kloverbox is that they usually include a coupon code on the information card for each product for that month. So if you really fall in love with something from your box, you'll be able to get more at a fantastic discount.

How Much?
A month-to-month subscription to Kloverbox is $25 per box.
3 month subscription is $71.25 ($23.75 per box)
6 month subscription is $135 ($22.50) per box.
Shipping is free!

Let's get into the April Goodies!

Love Reusable Bags: Snack Pouch Set ($11.95)
I'm just absolutely in love with these!! Firstly, I love lifestyle items in subscription boxes. Secondly, I bring a bagged lunch to work with me every single day and these are absolutely perfect! Instead of buying and wasting tons of zip lock bags, I'm now the proud owner of these fantastic reusable snack bags! They're super cute, dishwasher safe and fit sandwiches and a variety of other snacks. The bags have a food safe PEVA coating, so no worries about any chemicals or contaminants! I'm addicted to garlic butter Ritz crackers, so I have a feeling at least one of these is going to be my designated "Ritz Bag!"

Go Green: Miracle Balm ($17.99)
I've gotten a variety of multi-use balms from Kloverbox and subscription boxes in general and while they used to be the type of product that I would pass on to friends and family, I have since become totally addicted to how useful these can be! This one is great for dry, chapped, cracking skin and can be used on hands, feet, arms, lets, face and even split ends and dry scalps! The greatest thing about these balms though, is that they can be used in so many other ways- I've used them as chapstick, as a way to cover and heal burns, cuts etc. I've used them as a cuticle "oil" and as a way to moisturize and protect fresh tattoos. You can use them to tame unruly eyebrows or flyaways...honestly the uses are endless with these! I'm glad they come in giant tubs because I'm always going through them super quickly!

Goodnessknows: Cranberry, Almond, Dark Chocolate Snack Squares ($1.00)
All I can say about this snack is: yessssssssssss. It's so good, you guys. So good. I could not stop myself once I opened it up just to "try" it. This package came with 4, decently sized squares of goodness. Oats, cranberries and dark chocolate, essentially. I'm not even that big of a fan of cranberries but this was out of this world delicious! I'm always looking for natural, healthy and low(ish) calorie snacks to take with me to work because I tend to snack a lot during the time I'm there. I'd much rather have one of these on hand than go reaching for my co-workers peanut butter cups! Really happy to have discovered these!

Kali: Organic Tampon Sampler and Wipette ($3)
Kloverbox is all about natural and organic, so I love that they've teamed up with another subscription box this month and introduced us to Kali! This subscription features monthly boxes of 14 organic tampons, 10 individually wrapped wipes and 1 "rotating period pampering product" which I'm assuming is probably chocolate or something else that will help you through that time of the month! What's great about this service is that they donate $1 for every box sold to "Girl Up" which is a campaign focusing on adolescent girls through the United Nations Foundation.
I'm a little concerned that 2 tampons and a wipe is valued at $3, but for some reason, the pretty pink and white packaging has me interested enough to want to give it a try. Also, you can use the coupon code "ilovekali" to save $5 off your first box with them if you're interested!

 Kloverbox Overstock ($5+)
While the regular products this month did seem a little on the light side value-wise, I was happy to see that they've included some extra/bonus items this month from the Kloverbox overstock! This isn't just junky products, either! While it seems that all subscribers received random items, I got two items that I really, really loved from past boxes! I did enjoy the blush- it reminds me a bit of NARS Orgasm only in a loose powder form. You need very little and get a lot of color payoff! What I'm most excited about though, is that I somehow lucked into getting the Kiss Me Honey lip balm. When we first got this in one of the past boxes, I tossed it into my lip balm pile and forgot about it. About a month ago, I misplaced the one I was currently using and snagged this one as I was running out the door. Since then, I have been absolutely addicted to this stuff! The light minty scent is amazing, but how soft it makes my lips is even better! I use this before I go to bed every night and I've been super impressed with how well it moisturizes and protects. So happy!
 Overall Thoughts
Kloverbox costs $25 per month (less when you purchase a longer subscription!) and the April box has a total value of about $34. That is not including the value of the "bonus" items as I don't think those are supposed to be included in the value, however I would say with the two items I received, the value is much higher as the blush was a decent value if I remember correctly. Still, I think the tampon set should have been more of a bonus item than an actual "product" for the box this month. This might be the first time I'm a little bit iffy on my thoughts for Kloverbox this month. I'm not wowed on the overall value and the addition of overstocked items seems a bit like fluff for an otherwise low-value box. Having said that, I know the kind of business Kloverbox runs and it's very possible that they were genuinely just getting rid of overstock and wanted to gift us with it. Regardless of my iffy feelings on the value this month, I'm still really pleased with everything I received, which is something that happens month after month for me with Kloverbox. There's nothing here that I won't use and enjoy, and that is extremely rare for me to say with any subscription- even my favorites!

If you want to sign up for Kloverbox (and why wouldn't you??) You can do that here!
Don't forget to use HB10 at checkout to save 10% off any length subscription!

Jane Iredale: Beauty Prep Skincare Line Review!

If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you might already be aware that I'm a huge fan of Jane Iredale cosmetics. I've done quite a few reviews for them and have fallen in love with their natural, safe ingredients lists that are so hard to find in the cosmetics world. You can imagine how excited I was to hear that Jane Iredale was releasing their own line of skincare products! Since many of my readers are also skincare fanatics, I figured I would get my hands on some of the products and see how they stack up to other western brands, and more importantly, if they compare to my Korean skincare products!

First things first: Why Do I like Jane Iredale So Much?
1. Because the company started in my home state! (MA Pride!)
2. Because their products are unique!

What exactly makes them stand out?
Their products are non comedogenic, meaning your skin will be able to breathe and behave normally when wearing Jane Iredale products. No clogged pores for you!
Their products are safety, allergy, clinically, and dermatologist tested.
They make an effort to use only anti-irritant ingredients and natural preservatives. No parabens or phenoxyethanol!
Jane Iredale is also cruelty free!
I think that Jane Iredale products are always "staples" in a collection. You could buy anything and most women could wear it, pull it off, and use it regularly in their makeup routine. While I'm a super adventurous type when it comes to makeup, my daily routine requires me to have fast-working, multi-tasking products that look natural. Not only does Jane Iredale cater to me, but to people like my mom, who don't really like to use too much makeup, but still want to look their best.

Initial Thoughts
Look at all the amazing ingredients and extracts in this moisturizer! Love it! I expected a lot from the ingredients list since this is Jane Iredale afterall, and I'm pleased with what I see so far in this moisturizer! The jar is quite large and the moisturizer itself is light with an almost whipped-like quality, but still dense enough where you need a very small amount to cover your face and neck. I found that this did a great job spreading over the skin smoothly and quickly absorbing, but still left my face feeling moisturized without that greasy after-feeling that some creams tend to leave. The scent is a very mild, herabal/citrus-like smell which I love. I have used this for a week now and haven't seen a single extra breakout- my skin is a mess lately so I'm cautious of what Im using and keeping a close eye on my skin when I try new products, but this is just the right consistency for my combo-oily skin. So far I'm very happy with this!

Initial Thoughts
While this toner does contain alcohol, I'm not someone who shys away from it when it's used in small amounts, especially in a toner. Interestingly enough, the majority of my favorite toners do contain some sort of alcohol. Having said that, Iknow some people are sensitive to it so I wanted to point that out first and foremost. This applicator is similar to the Ladykin broccoli toner in that there is a little pump top that you press a cotton swab onto to dispense the product. I'm not a huge fan of this kind of dispenser, but it's not a make or break thing for me.  This toner also is loaded with all kinds of great ingredients that are there to help balance the ph of your skin as well as help moisturize and refine. Luckily, this toner falls in line with Korean toners in that it's not an astringent and doesn't burn or cause a tingling when applied like so many Western brand toners. i found this to be clarifying while also feeling like it was restoring moisture to my skin after the cleansing process. While I'm quite enjoying this toner and it hasn't had any negative effects on my skin, I think I still prefer my Mizon AHA/BHA toner over this one. Having said that, if you're looking for an easily accessible toner that has lots of natural ingredients that are safe to use, this might be a great option for you.

Initial Thoughts
When I first saw the word "cleanser" I assumed it would be a gel or a cream consistency, but this is actually a Micellar water with added ingredients to really bump up it's results. This product also contains alcohol, just a heads up! I absolutely love cleansing waters because they seem to work better with my skin than regular cleansers. Many people suggest using these in conjunction with a regular cleanser, but I tend to only use these at night. Nothing cleanses my face better than a very gentle cleansing wipe to loosen and remove the majority of my makeup, dirt and oil at the end of the day. After a cleansing wipe, I use a cleansing water to remove any left over grunge thats on my skin and using those two things together has left my skin consistently feeling cleansed, fresh and not at all stripped of moisture like so many cleansers tend to do. This cleanser has been absolutely amazing. I've tried quite a few cleansing waters, the majority of them being from Korean brands, and I actually think I like this one the best. I feel like it removes excess makeup and oil from my skin even after I use a cleansing wipe, and it has a really nice citrus scent that is invigorating and refreshing. I've been using this cleansing water specifically during my morning routine. The moment I sit up in bed, I take my skincare supplements and vitamins and remove all the oil and leftover sleeping pack residue etc from my face with this cleansing water and it feels amazing! I think this might be my favorite of the 3 items in this collection for sure!
Overall Thoughts
For Jane Iredale's first major forray into the skincare world, I think they've done a fantastic job with these products. It's obvious that a lot of time and thought was put into the forumulation of each product, and the results are really excellent considering I tend to be very weary of western brand skincare. There are lots of amazing fruit and vegetable extracts and moisturizing, soothing ingredients included here. The moisturizer does it jobs well without leaving a residue or not fully absorbing. The toner doesn't feel stripping or drying, and the cleanser has outshined the other cleansing waters in my collection by far. The only small gripe some might have is the alcohol content in the toner and cleanser, although that hasn't been an issue at all for me or my skin. I'm overall very pleased with this collection and I'm really excited to see if they continue to expand to more products in the future!
